AC over Modbus: one central gateway for all indoor units, or a 1:1 interface per unit?
For anyone controlling air-conditioning (VRF or splits) over Modbus: do you prefer a single centralized gateway on the manufacturer's bus that exposes all the indoor units at once, or a separate 1-to-1 interface at each indoor unit?
Interested in what people actually prefer and why — reliability, cost per unit, how easy it is to add or fix a single head, and whether mixed brands caused any trouble. When would you switch from one approach to the other?
