Jack the Lad

Just binge watched the whole of LIB UK season 3 with my wife today. So, here's my take on that night Jack disappeared. Haven't seen anyone post this so hopefully not treading on old news.

Takes big Ryan Public Speaking breath in...

I think Jack was still in the building but just in another apartment, very likely up to no good.

  1. Jack was wearing sliders. Supposedly walked to West Ham if I recall, from Canada Water which is 2hrs at least, depending on walking speed. However, if he didn't need to actually walk far ie. Popping to another apartment in the same building, he can just put his sliders on (tbf my equivalent is my flip flops).

  2. He's not from London so how did he navigate around in any direction if he turned his phone off. I live in South London and I still regularly use a maps app to get around when in an unfamiliar area, so how did he end up in a relatively central area still. And why cross the river to end up in West Ham when he easily could have stuck to south of the river considering he was unfamiliar and would have ended up in Camberwell, Dulwich or Blackheath. This is a bit of a shakier point.

  3. Faye mentioned he didn't even sound like he was outside. He left at 0500, so there would definitely be noise from traffic, especially in a built up area like West Ham. That's because he wasn't there. He was in the building.

  4. They apparently had some friends over. Who's to say there weren't "friends" from the building too, who blended into this after party at theirs. Or people Jack and Faye had met during the filming when getting the lift or general in and out of the building.

  5. Didn't want to show Faye his phone. He apparently Ubered back but then he'd have to have shown her his receipt. He mentioned Strava but then it would have a record of his "walk" route. Neither existed because he was in the building.

  6. Find my Friend app doesn't just turn off location tracking by itself, as Faye's mother pointed out so eloquently. He's 30yo, clearly knows how to use his phone. The "I don't know" is such an easy and convenient escape route. Plus, if he had the tracker on, Faye would've seen he was still in the building and he definitely can't use the "needed a walk" excuse then

  7. How did his phone even have battery left at 0600ish. He said he turned it off to "escape" for a bit (you could just turn it to silent like most of us millennials do). But, considering they had been out all day, then partied the night away, then had this after party at theirs, it feels unlikely that ADHD Jack was organised enough to charge his phone. But if Jack was in someone's apartment, then he had access to a charger.

  8. "This [phone] is where I draw the line. You either trust me or you don't" is a great manipulative line. He said he's had issues in the past with exes, so clearly learnt this when he gets caught. It's such matter of fact that will make someone who is vulnerable thing they're in the wrong.

  9. He gaslight the hell outta Faye when she questioned him. "I'm not gonna get upset with you. I'm not gonna get angry with you. But there must be a reason you have this lack of trust, but whatever that is babe, that's on you". Well of course she's Sus. The man she's supposed to marry in 2 weeks just got up and left with zero comms. I'm prepared to wrestle anyone with a rusty spoon if they try to argue otherwise.

Breathes... Okay, any thoughts?

EDIT I can totally accept point 1 on the sliders as someone who regularly walks everywhere in flip flops. I can totally accept point 2 on the distance. Errmmm... Points 3 to 9 please?
