Newcastle are in talks over the permanent signing of Joao Palhinha from Bayern Munich

The club are hoping to add the midfielder after their pursuit of Pierre Emile Hojbjerg and Aston Villa's loan move for Palhinha both broke down last week.

Bayern do not want to loan him, which is why their sporting director Max Eberl said yesterday they would not deal with Villa.

Palhinha is re-assessing his options, which may also include staying at Bayern or a move back to Portugal to Benfica and Sporting.

Both are keen but the player seems to prefer to stay in the Premier League if he can.

Tomorrow's Telekom Cup between Bayern and RB Leipzig is part of the transfer of Nagelsmann to Bayern in 2021

>When coach Julian Nagelsmann moved from RB Leipzig to Munich in 2021, not only did the record transfer fee of €20 million change hands, but a friendly match was also agreed upon, the revenue from which, however, would remain entirely with Bayern. Now this old agreement is being fulfilled.

>And it's not the last: According to kicker, there will be another friendly meeting between the two clubs in the coming years, this time in Leipzig. This was agreed upon when Max Eberl became sporting director at Bayern in March 2024, but was still under contract with RB Leipzig.

[Seb Stafford-Bloor] Bundesliga has held discussions about a €1bn loan from a US investment firm.

The German Bundesliga has held discussions with a U.S. investment firm about a €1billion (£855.6m; $1.1bn) loan.

At a meeting held in New York in June, representatives from the Bundesliga met with Apollo Sports Capital to discuss the framework of a loan over 20 years, guaranteed against the league’s future domestic broadcasting earnings.

According to sources granted anonymity to protect relationships, the proposal was not the result of any tender process, nor would it involve any transfer of equity. Any potential agreement would also be subject to a vote among the 36 member clubs of the two Bundesliga divisions and require a two-thirds majority to be accepted.
