Fantasy Campaign Mode Idea

Hey yall, I play the fantasy zombicide and have all variations of the base games as well as about 90% of all the expansions.

Been thinking about starting a campaign mode with 2 other players. Looking for thoughts/feedback/constructive criticism.

Goal, to finish all 6 books worth of campaigns.

Black plague + wolfsburg + feral dragon decks combined for the 20 missions

Green horde + friends and foes + necrotic dragon zombie/equipment decks combined for 20 missions (separate from the BP/Wolfs for more unique game play)

Then

White death + eternal empire for the last 20. (separate from the BP/Wolfs and also separate from GH/F&F for more unique game play)

Horde box and extra necromancers will be split between the green horde deck and the black plague deck to try and balance the deck.

White death portion will have frozen fortress, no outside abominations or necros to help keep the gameplay feeling fresh
———————————————————————————

Players will pick 1 survivor to start with and will randomly be assigned a second going into mission one of BP.

Deaths are permanent

At the end of a mission your party gets 1 extra character (on the bench) per objective that gets picked up at the end of a successful mission. Those characters can be used by any players (not just the player who picked up the objective)

Characters that end a mission with health missing will have to discard 2 equipment cards per 1 health missing (you can not use this to revive a dead character) or 1 food in your backpack per 1 health missing if you wish for them to start at a higher life total in the next mission.

A character that is missing health and skipping a mission is healed 1 for every mission skipped. Ex. If baldric ( from black plague) finishes mission 1 with 1 health, I can elect to not take him into mission 2 or 3 and at the start of mission 4, he would be at 3 health. (again you can not revive a dead character using this effect)

Mission objective and setup are seen and known before picking what characters will be going on the mission (from their character reserves).

When it comes to the ultimate survivors. Only after successfully completing 3 missions with a qualifying character, can we then choose to swap that character out for the ultimate version.

——-

That’s the gist of what I have so far. Let me know what yall think or if you have any ideas that can make the game more fun/interesting.

Ballista vs allies

What happens if I shoot a ballista in a direction that intersects allies in a square that aren’t in combat?

Do I roll to hit them? Do I only hit them on misses even though there isn’t a zombie in their square?

Do I not roll because there aren’t zombies in the square?

Siege vs special abominations

To preface, I have green horde, horde box, friends and foes, no rest for the wicked, Wolfsburg as well as a handful of special guests.

I personally haven’t been enjoying siege engines too much, I find that they’ve been a “game altering” part of the game.

I understand that by using the feral dragon/necrotic you must use the ballista (we’ve presumed that the catapult also works if the missions starts us with it) however I feel like the game group for the most part just hug the ballista/catapult for 70ish percent of the game. And it’s been feeling boring game play wise.

On a side note, from our understanding, the siege engines ignore all zombie immunities, including but not limited to:

Innsmouth - exterior square protections
Abomabunny - only dragon fire
Divine beasts - self varying protections
Spectrals - vault/magic only
Swamp lurker- water invincibility

My most recent game the divine beasts came out and died the next round due to the ballista, since from our understanding, in the beast dies, you instantly spawn the next one at the closes spawn point.

In regards to self resolution. The concepts ive come up with:
I personally am considering pitching siege does not go through immunities, or just not playing with the siege entirely and dragons just start with 1 free vulnerability rather than having to kill it with a siege first.

Anyway, what are yalls thoughts?
Do yall play anything different? Is there a rule we are misunderstanding? If yall house rule, what do you change and how has that change affected future game play?

Thank you for your feedback

Ex vs protection

If someone has protection from spirit school and a scout casts heal (ex) on them. Does the heal go off since ex isn’t magical?

Does it change for protection from magic?

Does it change for cursed?

Necro Dragon ruling

So we just spawned a necro dragon and continued spawning and flipped another necro dragon card. How do you ply this? Does that give the dragon another activation? Or does nothing since it’s already on the board?

Wolverine Fierce Fighter

If Wolverine fierce fighter is on the field and is dealt lethal damage. Let’s say 6 damage from being blocked during combat.

Can you respond to state based actions by pinging wolverine with let’s say an activated ability of vulshock sorcerer?
