Last statement to the removed AMA

I talked directly with the OP from the deleted AMA.
At the end of the day, these are my takeaways:

The person is real. They used AI to censor/obscure certain details, which ended up making the whole image look AI-generated.

Because English isn’t their first language and out of inexperience, they made some poor wording choices and triggered a few red flags unintentionally.

On top of that, they were completely overwhelmed by the amount of attention the post got. It was the first time they had ever posted something publicly, and it immediately blew up.

So as far as I’m concerned, the matter is settled.

Thanks for your time.

Statement to the removed AMA

Today an AMA was posted. From the start I was suspicious that the picture was genAI. Benefit of a doubt for OP, I chimed in and also asked a couple of questions. Everything OP said added up until I asked: "btw where is the mask from".

After that they fell silent. One hour later they themself removed the post and nuked the account.

Take away for me: From now on there will be no AMA without a check from the mod team upfront

Thank you for your time

Small update from me and looking for new moderators

A while back, I made a post about the state of the subreddit, and I think now is a good time for an update.

Since then, a few things have changed. Some posters have moved on, new ones have joined, and a number of posts have been removed for not meeting the subreddit’s requirements. On the other hand, some of the feedback from the community has been heard and implemented, which I'm happy about.

That said, there’s always room for improvement. So where do we go from here?

One of my main goals is to revise the rules and make them as clear as possible. However, I want to be transparent about this: there will still be minimum standards, and some posts will still be removed when they don't meet them. These decisions are often made on a case-by-case basis and aren't always straightforward.

Another thing I'd like to address is the comment section. There are often some pretty wild comments, and if they cross a line or make people uncomfortable—especially the people posting—please report them. I simply can't read every comment that gets posted. I can't promise that every report will result in removal, but reports help me identify issues that need attention.

Finally, I'm looking for new moderators.

By mutual agreement, prinzh_kig recently stepped down from the moderation team. At this point, the subreddit has grown too large for one person to manage alone.

So if you're interested in helping out, feel free to reach out. Previous moderation experience is a plus, but it's not required. What's more important is that we share a similar vision for what this subreddit should be.

Thanks for your time

Guide for photo composition

This is not what we expect as standard for pics, because it's wayyy above standard.

It's a nice guide with tips and insights for photo composition.
