I applied for the 5 year visa exemption with my birth certificate stating my mom was born in vietnam as well as her naturalization papers for the US. The embassy is saying that since she is not a Vietnamese citizen that I dont qualify? Does anyone have any experience with this?
Edit: The embassy said that since her parents are not Vietnamese since she was adopted that I dont qualify??

My mother was adopted from Vietnam and I was looking into the 5 year visa for being her child. Do you think it would be easier to go through an agent or try to do it ourselves? Does she need to apply for me or do I apply for myself and submit my paperwork saying that im related to her and proving that shes from there? I'm thinking it might get complicated because she has had several name changes since she got her citizenship in the US both first and last name...so maybe an agent would be easier for this? Also does anyone have any suggestions for a MN agency if thats suggested?? Thanks for the help!
