back up your Notion today.. not next week, today. here's why the "I'll do it eventually" mindset is the actual risk

every time someone posts here about losing a database, the story is the same: it worked fine for months, they never got around to backing it up, and then it was gone. by the time you're worried enough to search "how do I back up Notion," you're usually already past the point where it would have mattered.. because the loss already happened.

the trash window is 30 days. after that, nothing.. not Notion support, not version history.. brings it back. and most people don't even know that until they're the one asking.

we built restora.cc for this exact moment of procrastination. backing up is free, forever, no card needed. takes under a minute to connect and run your first one. you can literally do it right now while reading this instead of bookmarking it for later.

if your workspace has relational databases (tasks linked to projects, rollups, that kind of thing), regular exports won't actually protect you either.. they can't put the relations back together if you ever need to restore. that part's what restora handles differently.

but honestly, even if you never use restora.. back up your Notion somehow, today, before you're the next post in this sub.

restora.cc if you want the free option. happy to answer anything.

Bitcoin chart doesn't care how many times you refresh it

every red day, same ritual.. open the app, close it, open it again five minutes later like the number's going to say something different.

it never does. it's just price reacting to fear, same as always.

people who did fine through past cycles weren't the ones checking constantly. they decided once and mostly looked away

finally got automatic Notion backups working.. free, runs daily on my laptop, takes 2 minutes to set up

okay i have been meaning to sort this out for like a year. kept telling myself "one day my workspace will get nuked and i'll regret not having backups" and then never doing anything about it.

found a free tool called restora.cc that has a CLI you run from your terminal. set it up last week and it just runs automatically every day in the background. backs up everything.. relations, rollups, views, the whole structure.. straight to my Google Drive. nothing goes through their servers, just my machine → my drive.

setup was basically:

npx @restora/cli setup

it walks you through connecting your Notion, picking what to back up, and scheduling daily runs. took me longer to find my Notion integration token than to actually configure the thing.

what i like about it:
- completely free for backup
- no account needed
- nothing stored on their servers, my backups live in my Drive
- can also save to S3, Backblaze, R2, or just a local folder if you prefer

anyway figured i'd share since i kept seeing posts here from people losing data and wishing they'd backed up.

restora.cc if anyone wants to look

your Notion backup saves the data but not where you were — built a free extension to fix that

https://preview.redd.it/rkvrmdlvsaah1.png?width=1536&format=png&auto=webp&s=0f8a3912761c0488d11ff08d368380718f7b487d

my actual problem: i'd have a Notion doc open with 6 other tabs around it.. the Linear ticket, the Figma, a GitHub PR.. and the next morning i'd reopen Notion with zero memory of what those tabs were or what i was mid-doing.

so we made Tab Handoff at restora.cc .. one click saves every open tab in the window plus three quick notes.. where i stopped, what's blocking me, what's next. come back later, one click reopens everything with those notes right there. no cold start.

things that mattered to us building it:

- nothing leaves your machine.. all chrome.storage.local, zero network calls, no account, no analytics.
- keeps your tab groups intact on reopen.
- if you use restora.cc (our Notion backup tool), you can export a session and the restore screen reads the notes too — but the extension works completely standalone without it.

free, Chrome extension.
part of the restora team, happy to answer anything.
