For the last couple of hours he’s been swimming in one spot near the surface. We just got four guppies in a new tank by themselves yesterday and they’ve all been active and fine up until this. The others seem okay.

He was the first to really explore the tank and now he’s just up by the surface and I’m concerned there’s something wrong.

I just did a water test and all looks fine. Nitrates slightly on the high side so I’ve done a water change.

Does anyone recognise this behaviour? What can I do?

Thanks everyone for the advice. I think this is looking much better. We got the water tested today and the shop said we are doing great and probably a week away from being cycled!

The rocks are temporarily weighing down the wood as I need to secure it so ignore that (and the other floating piece).

This is a family project hence the ornaments.

I am gonna top the water up to improve the look of it.

Just planted yesterday. What can I do to fill the back up better and hide the hardware? Any advice?

This is a beginner tank with just an LED light, heater, and filter. Just started the cycling process.
