Rainbow bridge

If a dog has had multiple owners during their life, who do they meet on the rainbow bridge?

Small rant about the verification process

Why haven’t they hired more people to handle the amount of people who submit early? I feel like it’s the same problem every single year. I submitted 6/21 and got verified MID AUGUST which basically delayed when I submitted my secondaries.

If you’re applying next year, submit your application the FIRST DAY bc I don’t expect amcas to change their process any time soon.

secondaries with word limits on the lower end

I know writing can be exhausting, but I can’t help but feel limited when writing secondaries that have a lower word-count maximum. I feel like I don’t have enough room to do any reflection or really say what I’m thinking

Question about fee assistance and primary

If I already submitted my primary to 20 schools allowed by FAP, would I be able to withdraw from one or two of those schools and replace them after I’ve already submitted for free still?

Promo admission emails

Does AMCAS send out MCAT scores to schools like Philpot (whatever his school is) and Caribbeans? Should I be taking this as a sign I bombed my retake? Lmao

my little vent about today’s exam 7/11

after taking this exam the third time I’m just honestly so sick and tired of it.

C/P started out okay. Then it wasn’t.

CARS lost me with Plato. Otherwise I think it went pretty mediocre. Kinda numb after it had me sitting in the restroom staring at the wall.

B/B I ran out of time on. Interesting passages for sure but I think I spent so much time trying to get it right I probably still bombed it.

P/S had a lot of terms I was 50/50 on. The experiment passages weren’t too bad, I just had to write stuff out to get the logic down.

Overall I’m just so tired of it

How do adcoms view applications?

Do they just filter and disregard everything that doesn’t match like MCAT, etc. and never view your application?

If schools have a cutoff, do they view everything that meets said cutoff or is it just for show?

Am I insane for wanting to still apply this cycle?

I scored low on my MCAT (500) and plan on retaking it this weekend.

I’ve been busting my ass off answering and reviewing practice questions in the last month and a half and I’m hoping to increase it by a little or as much as possible.

I have a couple reasons for not wanting to take another gap year:

  1. I have really good LORs coming from professors, the Dean of my college, the President of my university, and from internships etc
  2. I’d say my writing’s pretty solid.

Also I’m just tired of taking the MCAT. Took it twice already and am just sick and tired.

Edit: for context, I already submitted my MD primary and indicated a future test date. Date submitted was 6/21 and waiting for verification

Came in looking for a specific dog, left pleasantly surprised

I recently adopted two amazing dogs from the county shelter three months apart, and I can't help but love them more and more each day. I visited the shelter with my girlfriend, intending to adopt a specific dog we saw posted on the online database. Both times, we ended up leaving with a completely different dog.

Pepper, our three-year old long-haired chihuahua mix (or so we were told, he's like 16 lbs lol), seemed so gentle and curious during our meet and greet. When taking a look around the kennels, we noticed that his bark sounded different from other dogs. It was almost as if he wasn't barking because he was anxious, but because he felt "pressured" to do so, almost like dog peer pressure, per se. He looked genuinely happy and excited to see us. We knew we'd be bringing him home that day. Since then, he's been the bubbliest and goofiest dog ever.

Morfan, our pug, was assumed to be around six years old when we adopted him. We were initially there to adopt another dog—one that we were eager to meet. Morfan, however, was another dog I saw on the website that stayed in the back of my mind even as we were viewing all the other dogs in their kennels. When we came across him, he didn't bark and just stared at us curiously. He was like an old soul. We asked about that other dog at the counter before leaving, and were told we couldn't meet him as the shelter was about to close (and due to his nature, he needed a meet and greet). Then, I remembered Morfan. Surely enough, the staff said he could be blindly adopted that day, and I haven't regretted that decision since.

Both Pepper and Morfan are the sweetest boys and have since then gotten along. I just feel as if they complement each other's personalities so well. I love watching them play together and cuddle on our bed. I love them so freaking much. I just wanted to share how grateful I am that we ended up taking both these boys home when we did.

How old is my pug?

Just adopted him two days ago. He’s the biggest snuggle bug and loves to explore and skitter around. They think he’s about 6 years old. What do you guys think?

PI hasn’t responded about LOR

I asked my PI for a LOR three months ago which he has been happy to do and have been following up the last few months. I told him I didn’t really need it until May/early June ish. He said two weeks ago he was working on it to make it more competitive, and that I should expect it in the next day or so. Fast forward to two weeks after he hasn’t been responding to my texts (which is our primary mode of communication since undergrad) or emails (which he barely checks).

When should I start panicking?

For those who googled answers to questions after the exam

How do you deal with knowing you got a certain number of questions wrong for sure and not spiraling that you got significantly more but just can’t remember what those questions were?

So far I know I got at least 3-5 wrong on every section (except CARS) but who’s to say I didn’t miss wayyyyyy more than that?

Course Classification - Internships

Hi,
I was wondering how I’d classify some courses I’ve taken. I have internship credit on my transcript for interning at a neurology clinic. I also have individualized instruction credit for working in my neuro/bio systems based lab. Would these count as BCPM? If not, what should I classify them as? If they do, do I just select the “Lecture Only” option or “Lecture and Lab”?

Thanks
