Is there any way to get around the annual upfront fee?

I bought a tractiv a couple years not realizing that they don't allow for monthly plans in my country (USA). I used it for the week I was out of town, canceled the sub, and got my money back because it was within 30 days of purchase. Now, I'm leaving for another week and I don't want to pay $144 for something I'm going to use briefly, and their chatbot tells me I must pay the annual fee, no refunds possible. Has anyone figured out a way around this? Thank ye

How desirable is a last-minute booking in rural Washington state?

I have an unexpected trip coming up (in two weeks) and my usual sitters are booked. I'm considering joining THS but I'd rather not blow $200 if I'm unlikely to get any offers. The property/location/dog are all fabulous but we're talking Port Townsend, WA, not Paris.
