Is Trupanion worth it?

I have three cats and I am thinking about getting pet insurance for two or all three of them. So far, my main contender is Trupanion (reliability) or Lemonade (affordability). Trupanion is more expensive and won't cover my oldest-he is around 17 years old with stage 3 kidney disease. I don't expect to be able to find coverage for him, although I am open to recommendations if I get a separate policy for him!

For Trupanion, what I have it selected to is the $1000 deductible with the unlimited payout and 90% reimbursement including the add-on of Pet Owner Assistance. This comes to around $190/month for my other two kitties. Does this seem reasonable? I originally wanted a smaller deductible, but I cannot afford $300/month for their insurance. My main reason for pet insurance is for an accident/illness that comes on later in life-they are 5 and 13 years old. I can afford exams, blood drawings, dental stuff, but I want the extra coverage in case something happens. My vet allows payments, but I'm wondering if insurance is a good add-on.

I also know of Care Credit cards for pets, I'm not sure if anyone has any advice on that as well.
