[Suggestion] Static loot didn't make Tarkov predictable — it made players predictable
Hello fellow tarkov enthusiasts , if you agree with the post please make sure to vote on tarkovcommunity below!
Static loot didn’t make Tarkov predictable. It made players predictable, and that’s exactly why the PvP was better.
Anyone who played old Interchange or Reserve probably knows what I mean.
Back during the Bitcoin wipe, Interchange was THE map for GPUs. You had Techlight, Texho, Rasmussen, and ULTRA Medical. Sometimes you’d find multiple GPUs in one raid, and ULTRA was actually worth fighting over because LEDXs spawned there.
The important part wasn’t just the loot. It was that everyone knew those areas were worth going to.
People rushed Techlight, pushed through OLI, rotated through the middle of the mall, or tried to cut other players off. You never knew exactly where someone would be, but you had a good idea where they were trying to go.
Reserve was the same. King/server, Black Bishop/drop-down, Dome/Queen and the other tech areas had GPUs, Tetriz, military tech, intel and other valuable loot. Because those places were worth hitting, squads naturally crossed paths.
That’s what I think Tarkov is missing now.
When valuable loot is spread across the entire map, players get spread across the entire map too. One PMC is checking duffles in some random building, another is looting containers on the edge of the map, and someone else fills his bag near spawn and leaves without ever needing to rotate through a contested area.
That’s why some raids can feel completely dead even when there are plenty of PMCs in them.
I’m not saying GPUs or LEDXs should spawn on the exact same shelf every raid. Keep the RNG.
But Techlight should have a genuinely good chance of valuable electronics. ULTRA should actually be one of the best medical rooms on Interchange. Reserve’s tech buildings should be worth contesting again.
You want players thinking:
“There’s probably good loot there, but there are probably people there too.”
That risk/reward is what gave maps their flow.
High-value areas created routes, and those routes created fights without the game needing to tell players where to go.
Dynamic loot can still exist everywhere else. Duffles, containers, caches, random loose loot, all of that is fine.
Just bring back proper high-risk, high-reward hotspots.
I’d love to see BSG try it for one wipe. Make places like Techlight, ULTRA and Reserve’s old tech areas actually worth fighting over again and see what it does to the flow of the maps.
