i don't normally keep up with her outside this sub, but i found this and thought i'd share.
i find it interesting how proud she seems to be of "the vatican" when, arguably, it's one of the worst written songs in her discography. i feel that most people outside of her fanbase wouldn't take this song (and the album as a whole) seriously due to the immature and very surface-level lyrics.
when i was still into her music, i was excited for HADES because she seemed to be taking a more personal and mature route with her music with PORTALS than before. however, her lyrics in HADES show no maturity whatsoever; if anything, they are a step even further back any of her previous eras. her immaturity is especially evident in songs like "grudges," "chatroom," and "the vatican," but the whole album seems to be this way besides maybe a couple
because after a certain point, it was easier to be a hater than a fan.
when i was a fan, i had to constantly come up with excuses to justify her actions. i didn't even fully believe some of these excuses, and i only told myself them because it was easier than admitting that melanie might be a real sicko when i had really liked her music and aesthetic.
being a hater, i literally just have to use my common sense and critical thinking skills. that's it. i don't have to put effort into being a hater. it just comes naturally, as she has given us far more reasons to dislike her than to like her.
