Schedule as a Civil Engineering freshman

Hey guys! I was just wondering what you guys thought of my schedule. I am a commuter so I know my 8AM is going to be hell, but I‘m hoping to make the most of it. I’m also going for less shifts as to not burn out.

I could’ve taken another Calc 1 class but there were going to be so many gaps in my schedule it was going to be around 5-7 hours on campus.

I‘m also looking for friends! I’m a civil engineer major (per the title lol) I’m a lesbian, I don’t party at all so I’m worried I won’t make friends, I‘m from Mexico and I speak 4 languages!!

MATH 150 Prof

Hey guys. I’m trying to figure out which MATH 150 section I should take for fall and wanted to get some opinions.

I’m currently in Mark Dunster’s section, but I’ve seen some pretty mixed/bad reviews and I’m wondering if Colin McGrane would be better.

The sections that fit my schedule are:

Dunster

  • M/W/F: 1:00–1:50
  • T/Th: 9:30–10:20

McGrane

  • M/W/F: 8:00–8:50
  • M/W: 10:00–10:50

or

  • M/W/F: 8:00–8:50
  • M/W: 1:00–1:50

I commute about 20–25 min to SDSU, so I’d rather not have an 8 AM if the professors are about the same, but I also don’t want to pick a worse professor just to avoid waking up early lol.

With McGrane’s option I have no huge gaps and my days are shorter but I’m not sure if the commute is doable.

For anyone who has taken MATH 150 with Dunster or McGrane, who would you recommend? Also, how are their exams/homework/workload?

Would really appreciate any advice guys 🙏
