Dog Ingested 50,000 iu of Vitamin D.
As stated, one of my dogs ingested one of my vitamin D supplements prescribed to me by my doctor ( vitamin d2 ergocal 50,000 iu ). The bottle fell and 3 capsules fell on the floor, I managed to secure two of them but one is still missing; i’ve looked everywhere and im most positive one of my dogs ate it. I have two dogs, ( F, 40lbs and M, 75lbs). Im almost positive my male dog ate it, as he was there when I dropped it and when looking back at him he was licking his lips as if he just ate something, so I’m assuming he ingested the Vitamin D. I contacted Animal Poison Control and they recommended me to wait and observe him for the next few days and then go to the vet if any unusual symptoms occur. I feel so guilty about this, and I hate that all I can do is sit and wait for him to develop symptoms. Whats the probability of this being extremely toxic to him (or potentially her)? Is there anything I can do for him other than wait for symptoms to show up?
