MARPE dropped left jaw down

Before my mid-palatalsuture split, my jaw and teeth were always perfectly symmetrical. But now, this is what it looks like. With every new turn of the expansion key, the left side keeps dropping lower and lower. My orthodontist just tells me to keep turning, but I am absolutely terrified that this won’t fix itself or be correctable later 😭

MARPE pressure ulcer & no suture split. Doctors say remove it or live with it. Advice?

I had a strange appliance installed. Technically, it is a classic MARPE appliance, but it doesn't hold onto my teeth and is enclosed in a transparent sleeve. It wouldn't be so bad if this sleeve hadn’t literally grown into the roof of my mouth.
I have already been to the clinic twice, and they told me it’s a pressure ulcer (a sore). They told me to stop turning the expansion screw for now and just apply an ointment. However, when I ask what the next steps are if this ulcer doesn't heal, they completely ignore my questions and give no answers.
My midpalatal suture hasn't opened yet, even though I have already done about 10 turns. I thought it should have split by now, considering I am only 21 years old. To make matters worse, the doctors told me they won't trim this transparent sleeve; they said the only option is to completely remove the entire appliance if I want to stop.
I don't understand anything anymore. I have been in a state of absolute panic for several days now. I feel incredibly sick, both physically and mentally. I honestly don't know what to think—there is so little information about this situation online, it feels like there is none at all. The other surgeons who install these appliances in my city can be counted on one hand, so I don't even know who else to go to. I am absolutely terrified.
