Made them taste even better.

The external (secondary) battery for my X270 will only charge to 47-49% and then stops. There's no threshold on the battery, and it's deemed healthy. When I try to do a battery gauge reset, it attempts to charge fully, but once it hits 47-49%, it hits an error and stops. It's a Lenovo battery.

I've seen many similar posts in here about this and tried every solution I came across (and more), but still cannot resolve this issue. This includes (but is not limited to):

• All options in Lenovo Vantage
• Startup/BIOS troubleshooting
• Turning off machine + draining battery power
• Using the reset button on the back

I've tested the battery on a separate X270 machine and had the exact same issue, so it seems like it's something wrong with the battery itself.

I've attached images (pictures rather than screenshots, because I'm posting this from a different machine). These images are with it currently plugged in.

The battery came with an X270 I bought from Marketplace a week ago, and I swear when I first received it, it was at 58%(!)

Is there anything I can do to the battery itself to try and reset it?

I recently got a beat-up x270 (my first ThinkPad) and had some questions about coatings on the machine. Specifically, there's a peeling layer on the inside/outside and a deteriorating paint(?) on the keyboard. Pics included in the post.

My questions are:

• Is this weird film always on x270 models? I recently came across an x260 that seemingly didn't have this film, and it felt so much better to handle, as well as being in better condition due to no peeling. What models do/do not have this coating? That could inform what machines I look into.
• What's going on with the keyboard? Is that paint something that would have originally been on the other keys that faded off? Or is it a stain of something I should remove?
