You don't have to stress over your 3 classes. It'll work

I just wanted to say to those who have not played yet, you don't have to get your class triad right the first time. The starting class is what matters, once you get to 10 you pick your 3rd class, but at any time you may be like meh, this SK isn't my vibe and change it. Then you might get to level 35 and have a new idea and then can change it up again and go kill things back at level 10.

Each triad is a new vibe, with a different play style and different pros and cons.

So far I have a

Dru/Monk/Shm at 50

War/Nec/Enc at 35

War/Pal/Brd at 25

Best part is, I can mix and match any of them for whatever role I want!

So don't worry about your planned triad being the best. It'll probably work. The only thing set in (temporary) stone is your starting Race and initial class. Just pick a primary class that feels like it jives with others and will be fun to you

EQL on AYN Thor through Moonlight Streaming

A little janky but it's definitely playable.
I'm streaming from a virtual monitor on my PC to the handheld. I tried running it through emulation in Winlator and Gamenative, but on Gamenative the launcher had path errors trying to launch eqgame.exe and on Winlator it crashed after trying to connect to the server. Would be real cool to run it locally on the device, but streaming is fine.

You can press buttons and stuff on the bottom touchscreen and they work fine. The bottom screen is using Megingiard to zoom and get touch input for the mouse. I can also add buttons to the bottom screen for different key combos, but haven't messed with it yet. For controller rebinding I'm using AntiMicroX

Left stick controls movement, Dpad controls targeting (closest, cycle enemies, self/pet, escape to clear). B button enables autoattack, Y, X and A cast the spells in the first 3 gem slots (might change that). Right stick controls the mouse cursor (can also just tap on the main screen), left and right shoulder buttons are left and right mouse buttons, left trigger enables mouselook for the right joystick. Start brings up the map (on bottom screen/lower left corner) select brings up inventory. I have the loot window pop up in the bottom left corner so i can loot easy on the bottom half of the 2nd screen.

UI scaling would help a lot with making this less janky but for now its passable as long as its not too intense of a fight. Ignore the text boxes, i ended up adjusting them later, they are readable on text size 5 or 6. Biggest annoyance is dealing with any of the extra menus/inventory/bags.

I gotta play around with what works best on the 2nd screen, i just put all the hotbars and spell bar on there to see how well they fit. Might move the player and target health bars to the bottom half of the 2nd screen so they are easy to see.

Revamped Blackburrow Loot

This is not comprehensive. There is also a very low damage bow with a snare proc, shoulders with a shrink clicky, and a decent lowbie plate BP at the very least.

This is the loot I got, leveling from 10-19. Thought folks might like to see.

All the old stuff is still there as well, spiked collars/shoulders, et cetera.

Beastlord question

Whenever people list their classes, I've noticed that no one seems to list the Beastlord as one of their classes. As someone who hasn't played EQ for over 20 years, I have a few questions:

  1. For anyone in the beta, what are your impressions of how the Beastlord fares, compared to other classes?

  2. Can you do a Beastlord/Monk combo? Or is the overlap wasted?

  3. Can the Beastlord pet actually tank well in EQL?

  4. Can anyone recommend good complimentary classes to go along with the BL?

Endgame viability of slow

Looking to take shaman over cleric for my build but it hinges on the viability of slow in the deep endgame. Are some of the pinnacle raid boss targets in D4 immune or highly resistant (like kithcore general rog epic resistant?). Shaman brings a LOT to the table but if slow is ineffective when it matters most it’s not nearly as appealing. Appreciate the insight as I’m holding for launch and won’t be personally testing.

Steam Deck Support?

I hope I dont get flamed for this too much, but I'm looking for an MMO for the Steam Deck. I'm very interested in MnM and have been loving the closed beta, but getting it to work on the deck has been a bit of a headache. I'm wondering if EQL will have baked in controller support or if thats something the community will have to do through the Steam Deck.

Why do I want to play this on the deck so badly? I grew up playing EQOA on the PS2 as my first MMO and I would absolutely love to relive that console MMO nostalgia. I know that EQOA was quite a bit simpler than EQ, but you'd think it would be very easy to translate the EQOA controller setup to EQL. Anyway, thanks for your time!

Build thoughts

I’m running SHD / ROG / ZERK right now and the damage is just insane. Zerk in particular causes all other forms of melee bonus damage to come up off of CD faster, so reave, harm touch, backstab, kick, bash and frenzy are all up faster.

I’m not 15 yet though so I don’t have my biggest life tap yet or my automatic lifetap perk.

Rogue adds a slow via poison so I have that going for me. I wonder if on bigger fights I should consider poison twisting if I can.

I’m Playing hardcore so I’m mildly worried about survivability. But maybe I shouldn’t be.

Any thoughts on how to increase survivability? It feels incredibly glass cannon right now. Damage is insane and I think it’ll only get better. And maybe I just need to wait until I can get spell blade and/ or procs rolling before judging too much.

Interested in hearing your thoughts / ideas.

WAR/SK/PAL build

Is WAR/SK/PAL a viable build for D4 content?

I really enjoyed playing a warrior in EQ for the pure tanking/agro. So my plan is to go with a WAR/SK/PAL build but I've noticed this is not mentioned as a build in any of the posts I've scrolled through.

Am I missing something were that much tanking is just no longer needed?

I will likely always be playing with my spouse and usually 2 friends so I am not worried about buffs/dps. However, I don't want to slow down the group by overkilling the tanking.

DLC content - what is your guess for what fits?

So lost in the EQL release announcement is this "EQL is a live service game, and we will be releasing new content, including DLC and expansions."

I'm curious what do you think could be released as a DLC? I know what can be released as an expansion but am struggling to understand what kind of content could they put behind a DLC pack?

Advice on the 3rd class for this Duo [WAR/DRU]

Hello!

I have decided that I really wanted to run a Warrior/Druid combo. Mostly for the nostalgia of leveling up a druid again plus the ability for ports and damage shields.

I originally wanted to run this with an enchanter this build but it seems like they are really lacking in their usual capacity of crowd control with limited damage options. I played an enchanter to 60 on retail.

So then I thought - what about a bard which was my main character up to Planes of Power. With melody and the change in bard songs this seems more like what I would want for a buff/debuff class.

Is Shaman a good fit? Would adding a monk for more melee damage make sense?

I'm stuck over here. I'm sure I'll play them all but looking for a certain amount of cohesion.

Going in blind is ok?

I played right as kunark was coming out. I was a DE necro on vallon zek. I've dipped into P99 from time to time, but didn't really level past 10.

EQL looks like a lot of fun, and I see there's a lot of theorycrafting on the sub, but I also get the impression that you can mess around with builds.

I'm kind of interested in not reading anything more about the game, and just going off of what i remember from 25ish years ago and hoping for the best. With the ability to scale difficulty, this should still be a viable way to approach the game and see everything?

How about ENC that doesn’t charm?

Back when I boxed on EQ Live, I almost always had an ENC as one of my support characters. I loved having Haste, Slow, and the class’s DoTs.

For EQL, I’m currently leaning toward PAL / MNK / ENC. The thing is, I don’t really enjoy using Charm. It requires a lot of attention and management, so I’d rather avoid it.

Most of the ENC discussions I see on Discord revolve around Charm, to the point where it sounds like that’s the class’s defining ability. That got me wondering:

If I’m not planning to use Charm, is ENC still a worthwhile choice, or would I be better off playing a different class?

I’m interested in hearing from people who have played ENC primarily for crowd control, debuffs, utility, and support rather than Charm DPS. How viable and enjoyable has that been for you?

Is there a place to search for gear by slot/stat?

I'm wondering if there's a place I can look up gear, sort or select by slot/stat, and also look up what procs exist. The EQ legends wiki looks like a copy paste of P99 with some additions, and a lot of that is out of date/era, and I can't get something like a table to sort gear. Hell, I would even take an excel export. Any ideas??

Remedial Training

I played for 10 years but joined around the time PoP came out. Over the next few weeks, which zones should I become familiar with so that I'm ready when EQL comes out and I start leveling in the classic zones?

No Cleric? No Tank? No Problem :) D4 CT Solo as Mnk/Shm/Nec

There are certainly quite a few mistakes, but I didn't expect the first pull to go so smoothly. I even forgot my siphon life spell because I intended to test stoicism with the empower invocation. I originally was going to use Mnk as a means to FD the aggro onto my pet, but uh.. we just didn't need it lol.
