Wipes for changing without water

I'm making an emergency kit in case I need to change my bag when I'm outside. I was wondering what kind of wipes I should use to clean the skin around the stoma when I don't have access to water.

I know baby wipes can leave a residue, are there any cheap alternatives or should I just get some proper ostomy barrier wipes?

"Retail therapy" after major surgeries

Anyone else spend way too much money on random things after a major surgery? I must have spent about 2500$ in total from gifts I've bought myself after my 4 surgeries... I hope someone can relate and maybe has a way to stop because my bank account is hurting more than my body is lmao

small rant

I've had surgery 2 weeks ago to make a loop ileo because my Jpouch had a very tight stricture which was making my whole intestines dangerously swollen. I even had a small rupture at the anastomosis site, so in a weird way the blockage might've saved my life.

I wasn't too bummed about the stoma since I had gotten used to it in the past, but it has not been pleasant so far and it's making it very hard to cope. So far I have had 2 leaks, one while I was out on a walk (luckily I was near my house so I just ran into my shower and changed the bag). The other leak was this morning, I woke up around 4am with my belly full of poop. Had to wake my parents and spent about 2 hours trying to change it because the stoma kept pooping.

The other super fun part is that for the past 2 days I've been having cramps that feel EXACTLY like when I used to have constant blockages with my first stoma. I'm still producing output luckily but it isn't a good sign. The pain got so bad yesterday that I needed to take some dilaudid to ease it.

After all I've been through I know I can't lose hope but my body isn't making it easy. I'm starting to despair about the random blockages since even the doctors are stumped. At least the first part of my summer was fun

Midline incision scar: swelling or hernia?

I’m around 2 weeks out of a loop ileostomy surgery for a blockage in my jpouch. today was my first solo bag change and I just realized they fully opened me up!

The previous operations were done laparoscopically so the scars were minimal. I’m kinda shocked and I feel like my mental recovery has been set back a little (more scared of moving around)

My main concern is that the part of the belly with the incision is kind of swollen, it looks like a small bump in the middle of my stomach. Did I get a hernia somehow or is it normal post-op swelling?

I haven’t done anything strenuous; the only thing I could imagine would be coughing or laughing which hurt a bit at first.

tldr; midline incision seems swollen, worried about hernia but don’t understand how it could’ve happened

Can I wear convex baseplate after surgery?

I had my surgery about a week or two ago and the hospital discharged me with a couple of 2-piece systems. My concern is that they’re all convex baseplates, which the nurse said to avoid in the beginning. Is it just them being extra careful or is convex something to be avoided at first? For reference, I still have small stiches around the stoma

I don’t have anything else, every store that carries bags is closed until tomorrow and I’m getting pretty itchy. It sucks that the hospital would let me go with stuff I can’t even use! :(

Blockage, passing mucus and blood

I have had my Jpouch for about a year and a half and I now I’m in the hospital for my first blockage. It started about 36hrs ago and I suspect it is from taking too much Metamucil with too little water combined with 2 loperamides, never again. Please be careful when dosing psyllium husk!

The pain comes in waves of cramps around the rectum and sometimes the lower belly, my main concern now is that when I tried going #2, only small bits of mucus with traces of blood came out.

All these surgeries and complications have made me quite nervous when it comes to abnormalities. I am already hospitalized but I just wanted to know if it is ”normal” to pass blood lined mucus or if I should be as concerned as I currently am.

Thanks,

TLDR; Hospitalized for blockage, only passing small bits of mucus with traces of fresh blood, very worried
