2012 Escape door keypad lights up but code won't work. Can FORScan read the code or am I stuck taking the console apart?

Got a 2012 Ford Escape. I have the original owner's manual with the factory 5-digit door code card inside, but typing it in does nothing.

The dealership just told me "the keypad is broken," but I tested every single button (1/2, 3/4, 5/6, 7/8, 9/0) and every single one lights up the green backlight when pressed. So the buttons definitely work and aren't dead. The 7/8, 9/0 buttons to lock the car works.

The previous owner did have wiring work done (mentioned a wiring overhaul) outside the dealer. My guess is either the SJB was swapped with a junkyard unit at some point, meaning the code on my card is wrong..

I also for the life of me, cannot remove the center console after taking out the trim around the gear shifter.

If I buy an OBD2 adapter with the HS/MS switch and hook it up to FORScan on a laptop, can FORScan pull the factory door code directly? Or am I trying to take out the center console the wrong way (am I missing any screws?)?

Need lug nut recommendations for my 2012 Ford Escape after 2 wrong sets!

I recently bought a 2012 Ford Escape with around 240,000 km. When I took it to the dealership for inspection, they pointed out that the current factory lug nuts are damaged/swollen and need to be replaced.

My Escape has the factory 16-inch alloy wheels, and I've been trying to get a set of solid 1-piece M12x1.5 lug nuts, but I’ve had terrible luck with two sets so far (both based on AI recommendations):

Set 1: I bought a box of M12x1.5 ET (Extended Thread/Shank) Bulge Acorn nuts. I returned these after I learnt it is meant for aftermarket wheels.

Set 2: I bought a standard-length closed-end 1-piece chrome set (AUTOPTIM M12x1.5, ~1.25" / 32mm tall, OEM part # ACPZ1012H / 611-303). I took these to my mechanic, but he said they do not fit because they are too short.

At this point, I don't want to waste any more time or money ordering the wrong parts.

Finally installed a Shelly Pro 3EM – integrated with Home Assistant running in Docker on a Synology NAS

After months of thinking about it, I finally installed a Shelly Pro 3EM in our house in Kerala.

The goal wasn't just to measure power usage, but to check what the distribution of power was, across the three phases. We also have plans on moving to a hybrid solar setup in the future, so figured might as well get this, before bringing in more appliances, and checking the inverter sizing and solar capacity that will be required in the future.

Setup-

  • 3-phase supply
  • Shelly Pro 3EM
  • Home Assistant running in Docker on a Synology DS224+
  • Remote access through Tailscale.

The Shelly is installed in the main distribution board after the RCCB and measures all three incoming phases using CT clamps.

The integration was detected instantly.

I now get:

  • Total house power (W)
  • Per-phase power
  • Voltage per phase
  • Current per phase
  • Total house energy

I also created utility meters for:

  • Daily consumption
  • Monthly consumption
  • Estimated electricity cost

and a custom KSEB billing setup using helper entities.
