482 Visa - Unannounced Site Checks?

Hi there,

Lately I am seeing some news about site checks for 482 visa holders. I am sponsored as Advertising Specialist, however, I sometimes do other tasks which do not align with the role I am sponsored for.

I read that these site checks are mostly in Hospitality/Retail sector. Do site checks in corporate happen as well? Is there a risk here for me or am I overthinking?

Any advise would be helpful!

Thank you

Hi all,

I sent all my documents via post to vfs sydney, got delivered a week ago but I have received no confirmation/acknowledgement from vfs that they have my application.

I will be travelling towards end of June and I need my passport for it and this has been giving me way too much anxiety after reading all other reddit posts telling how long it can take.

I have booked the next available date to go to the centre which is 20th May, does anyone know if I go there I'll be able to collect my passport then?

Hi all,

I have posted my docs to VFS Syd and they got delivered on 21st April, one week go, but VFS still has not acknowledged that they have my application and passport with them. The customer service connects to contact centre in India who are as clueless as me and give the vaguest answers.

I am travelling on 28th June, I thought about 2 months is enough time as people around me got it within a month, but I am worried now as I am travelling abroad and need my passport for it.

Just in case, if I don't receive my passport back in time, is there a way to just collect if from the centre? I can probably apply my 482 without police check and do it again once I am back from my trip?

Does anyone know if I could collect my passport or any tips to fastrack this?
