We just bought our first home and are cleaning up a former roach infestation. I’ve been deep cleaning and scrubbing the kitchen cabinets but when I got to the cabinets over the range hood, the bottom of one side was kind of spongy and I noticed this inside of a crack. Is this insulation? If so, is it normal to have insulation like this above a range hood?

We just bought our first home and the gas oven (GE) wasn’t working. I removed the knobs and front panel to see if it was just an issue with built up residue and this was sitting on top of the insulation, not connected to anything. A quick google search says it’s a range side manifold bracket, but does anyone know where it’s supposed to go?
