Appropriate address truncation question due to NY DMV Limitations

Hello, I am wondering if I can ask some advice. I have had difficulty receiving mail from the NY State DMV in the past because of the way they truncate addresses on documents. An address is limited to 20 characters including spaces. I am trying to determine the most appropriate way to truncate my address using USPS guidelines to best ensure I get my critical mail.

Here is the example address (not real) that id like advice on that will greatly help me with mine:

1234 Garden Brush St Apt N

Currently the DMV abbreviates mine to:

1234 Garden Brush N

I believe the issue here is that the apartment is also a directional, and there is no such thing as Garden Brush St “North.”

Another resident had the DMV abbreviate theirs to:

1234 Garden Brush St

The issue here is the missing apartment designation, causing the carrier to have to figure it out.

My question: what is the best truncation to fit into the 20 characters (including spaces) max for this address? I sincerely appreciate your help.

My local NBC station runs some kind of PSA that the paint industry (https://www.paintcare.org/) must have put together for some kind of tax deduction, because the advertisement sells nothing.

The man yells at you about having too much paint in your house and needing to go out RIGHT NOW to recycle it. As if it's a life-saving treatment needed for a family member.

Here are a subset of some of the ads on their channel:

And they run every commercial break.

Some feelings I have:

  1. I don't have any unused paint, so I can't be of service.

  2. It's really not that serious of an issue to have some paint in the house. My mom likes to have a little bit of touch up paint and it's extremely handy.

  3. Stop acting preachy, holy crow it's paint.

I want them to stop. Give me something entertaining, funny, thoughtful, or engaging because I often yell back at the paint man now to go away.
