How you prepare for book groups

Our library runs a few books groups. The people who are tasked with running these book groups are part time and retired senior library techs. They read the books in their own time (which I think is unfair and they should get paid for that, since they are technically working). One of the people who run it isn’t going to be able to anymore. As the head of the circulation department, it will be my job to take over her book group. I work full time, take care of my 8 year old, have a house to look after, and am currently taking courses for my MLIS. It takes me a few weeks to get through a book for my own pleasure. The idea of having to read books for a book club is very overwhelming for me because I just don’t have the time since I’m expected to do this out of work. How do you all handle preparing for book clubs? Do you read the books? Do you give your staff time during the work day to read? I’m just looking for advice. Thank you all.

Please help! Making Minecraft stuffie for son and I’m already confused!

I usually follow along to patterns on YouTube but this is the first time doing it from a pattern alone. This is for starting the zombie from the legs up. I can’t even understand the first step! I know what all the abbreviations mean so that isn’t the issue. Why are there brackets in parentheses? If the legs are starting in a round, why aren’t a making a circle first? Thank you for your help!

Mona’s Eyes

I don’t know if other librarians are having this issue with this particular title. Patrons have been taking the Mylar cover off the books because there are pictures of paintings that are related to the story in the cover. This is becoming an issue because we keep having to recover our copies. Has anyone done anything with their copies to make it so the patrons can see the paintings? One of our staff was suggesting we make copies of the cover and tuck it in the book. What are you all doing to handle this?
