Launching COMOCamps.com - A Community Resource for Parents

Launching COMOCamps.com - A Community Resource for Parents

This is a self-post about a free thing I built, and honestly I'm here for the feedback more than the plug. As a parent in COMO, childcare (and camps) are always a struggle in the summer.

I started this while researching camps for my kindergartener this season, recognizing that no good resource existing beyond the network of parents who "let you in" on their favorite camps around town beyond Tiger Bounce, MAC, ARC, Boys & Girls, etc.

How it's Built:

comocamps.com is a finder for local summer camps and kids events. The whole point is filtering: pick the week you need, your kid's age, a price range, and whether a camp covers a full workday or just a half day. Single-day and drop-in options are in there for gap days. Prices are listed up front instead of buried behind a registration click.

Right now it includes over 60 camps across Boone County camps plus a running list of free and low-cost kids events. It stays current: every listing shows when it was last checked, and anything I couldn't confirm is labeled instead of guessed with links back to the programs.

I know it's July, and most folks have camps lined up, so this is more about gathering feedback for next summer and helping parents still looking for options for July and August before CPS starts up again. Going forward, the site will feature afterschool programs, PTA resources, and other community events suitable for families/kids.

If you have a minute, tell me what camp I missed or whether the thing is actually useful. That feedback is what I'm after. On the roadmap is the ability to add parent reviews and to allow operators to claim and update their listings, but would love to hear your requests or camps/programs you'd like to see added.

Happy 4th and thanks for checking it out.
