My toddler got me back into hooping - advice on buying legitimate hoop?
12-14 years ago, I had a very heavy and large beginner hoop that I bought from a hippie shop on the boardwalk. I never really got into “flow” because my hoop limited me, but I could do a couple things like a vortex. I had a lot of fun trying at parties and festivals anyway.
Now I’m in my 30s, and about a month ago, my toddler saw a little mini kid’s hoop in the grocery store that she wanted. Then she wanted me to get one too, so I grabbed the full sized one. It’s a typical $5 Walmart hoop, lightweight with beads inside. It’s 34 inches in diameter, which sits at my bellybutton.
I had no idea how much fun I would have with this silly kid’s hoop. I’m in the yard with her everyday trying to learn tricks. I’ve learned how to do the escalator and reverse escalator and variations of that. Things I could never learn with my old hoop. Apparently this is my hobby for this summer!
But, I’m 4’11 and I feel it’s too big for some things. When I watch tutorials, their hoops are usually much smaller on them. I’d like to get a polypro hoop. So I’m looking for size and hoop maker recommendations. Thanks!
