r/Hooping
Its actually two 26” rings put together
Breaks apart into a red and blue hoop, and the rivets are aligned so you can connect them into this huge thing
I left my HDPE disconnected on the floor & left alone for a whole year. No improvement. (36”)
Are HDPE’s just like this?! I’m used to polypro. Last time I bought an HDPE it was 12+ years ago, and didn’t seem to have a problem, but it was a smaller one.
Will this affect the way I hula hoop.? Is it safe to use? Surely it’ll look wonky doing off-body tricks?
What else can I do to fix this?
My toddler got me back into hooping - advice on buying legitimate hoop?
12-14 years ago, I had a very heavy and large beginner hoop that I bought from a hippie shop on the boardwalk. I never really got into “flow” because my hoop limited me, but I could do a couple things like a vortex. I had a lot of fun trying at parties and festivals anyway.
Now I’m in my 30s, and about a month ago, my toddler saw a little mini kid’s hoop in the grocery store that she wanted. Then she wanted me to get one too, so I grabbed the full sized one. It’s a typical $5 Walmart hoop, lightweight with beads inside. It’s 34 inches in diameter, which sits at my bellybutton.
I had no idea how much fun I would have with this silly kid’s hoop. I’m in the yard with her everyday trying to learn tricks. I’ve learned how to do the escalator and reverse escalator and variations of that. Things I could never learn with my old hoop. Apparently this is my hobby for this summer!
But, I’m 4’11 and I feel it’s too big for some things. When I watch tutorials, their hoops are usually much smaller on them. I’d like to get a polypro hoop. So I’m looking for size and hoop maker recommendations. Thanks!
Don’t be afraid to integrate hula hooping with other styles of dance 🫶🏻
This is how I incorporated hooping into a fusion bellydance and tutting duet 🫶🏻 Don’t forget to try new things and experiment with your flow. — Bowl
When does laziness become flow?
So I’m dumb as rocks, got two left feet and have a lot of trouble keeping up with Deanne love. I don’t know what flow is or how to achieve it, quite frankly, I’ve never had a “flowy” thought in my life!
I’m so sick of feeling stunted because I just can’t put in the amount of time I want to put in to practice because I always find excuses not to and 24 hours in one day is SO not enough for something I am so passionate about! I will do anything but actually pick up my hoop and experiment, I was hoping someone here on this subreddit could give me the ultimate cheat code to hack into my flow state even though I understand it’s a very personal and unique to everyone thing. And please PLEASE don’t tell me to practice! That’s so rude and presumptive, Super nice answers only!

Question: Any folks SWEAR that they hoop better in private than in public?!?! I swear I do so much better with my coordination and flow at home…but the moment I’m in public, I SUCK! 😭😂 I just mess everything up…as you can see. Damn!
I can’t be the only one. Please? 🥲
When does practice become flow?
So I'm mostly an on-body hooper. Very dancey. I want to incorporate all these amazing off body tricks..but damn a lot of them are hard to nail down and combine into smooth flowing combos.
I know it takes practice to get the hang of these tricks, but at what point does the practice become a flow? I'm not exactly sure what I'm asking or how to word it.
Do you just keep drilling specific tricks until they become second nature and intuitively move into other tricks that becomes your combo flow?
I guess I just feel really clunky right now while learning tricks and it's discouraging .

Hi everyone, it's my third day of training! I'm still feeling a bit stiff, but I'm pushing through. I would really appreciate any advice or tips you might have for me. Thanks in advance to everyone for the help!
ISO Progress!
Its been a while since I last posted BUT! I have been practicing and here's how it's going - single handed ISOs are becoming easier so I decided to test the waters with a 2 handed ISO - LOTS of work is still needed but I impressed myself with how well I did for my first attempt and wanted to share 🌀😇 How'd I do??
Been spinning fire a lot lately
I have become one of those people that burns more than she glows 😅🤣 here's some ISO flow from my community dive bar burn night this week
