Thoughts on "Colony" (2026), Director Yeon Sang-ho (Director of "Train to Busan") return to zombie genre (I mean technically, it's his second, no third return but whatever)

So, Colony (2026), Director Yeon Sang-ho's new zombie movie was premiered at 2026 Cannes and it is quite doing well box-office wise in South Korea right now.

So, I saw the movie as well. Personally, I am usually split with Yeon Sang-ho's movies. But, seeing that this movie gaining generally positive reviews in South Korea (it is a bit polarizing but reactions seems to be generally positive) so I gave it a shot

Since this isn't released in US and other countries yet, not much spoiler or story stuff. But I'm just gonna say it felt like a M. Night Shyamalan movie in a good way and a bad way.

The premise of the zombie virus and how the zombies act was quite refreshing and the event happening in a relatively small scale felt refreshing too. Also, this is what I felt with "Train to Busan" as well but the actors who play the zombies did phenomenal work this time as well.

My gripe would be the story? Like it's not bad imo, but rather anti-climactic. I can see why the story and the characters act in certain way consider the message the director wanted to say, but there were parts well it reminded me of Glass (2019)

Still, I would still recommend it. Like if this movie gets releases in worldwide, I do want to say give it a shot, because the zombie mechanic was quite fun to watch.

Watched "Nirvana the Band the Show the Movie" in South Korea and I had a blast!

Really want to thank BDNS, the youtuber who acquired the rights for release of this movie in South Korea. He also makes mockumentary type comedy sketches as well and I can see how he would have known "Nirvana the Band the Show"

Since, fans of BDNS were used to mockumentary type comedy, the theatre was full of laughter, best condition to watch a well-made comedy movie so I had a great time!

The movie making was stellar as well, made me go "how the heck did they film this". The story was great as well. It might be seen as typical time-travel comedy movie but the chemistry, the reincorporations, and the acting really made this a unique experience.

It was so fun, and I had no problem enjoying despite not watching the web series and tv show. I can see the movie working more well to fans of series.

Again, reallt want to thank BDNS for making it possible for me to watch this movie in South Korean theatre, also want to thank Adam for providing the enough context and knowledge for the show
