Pork Butt on Searwood. How long for smoke boost?
I just picked up a Searwood XL and I absolutely love it. This will be my second cook and I am wondering how long you guys would have it on the “Smoke Boost” mode when starting the cook.
One hour? Two?

I was using my PC the other day and it froze, after restarting it would only boot up into the BIOS. I tried many things but nothing worked so I gave up and did a fresh install of Windows on a new NVMe drive.
Once I was on the new OS I pulled up the old drive and I could access the “Program Files” folder and others but when I attempted to access my user folder it said read access was denied and I had to give myself permission. When I attempted to do so it said that write access was also denied so right now I am kind of stuck.
I am considering cloning the drive using Samsung Magician and/or booting a liveusb of Linux to get around the permissions.
I contacted a data recovery service so that I could retrieve whatever data is left and they advised me to not use the drive any longer as doing so could totally brick it. It is a Samsung 970 EVO from 2020 ish.
I am extremely nervous about trying either solution at this point.
I know it is impossible to say for sure, but what are the chances that it would totally brick with one or two more attempts? I did likely reboot the computer roughly 10-15 times trying to initially diagnose the issue.
EDIT: I managed to retrieve all of my files today! Woooo! Fuck you Microsoft for putting my Desktop folder inside the OneDrive folder and almost giving me a heart attack. Used a Ubuntu liveusb to successfully retrieve the files. I am relieved to say the least.
I was watching a fishing show on HBO and all of a sudden it froze. I noticed that windows explorer was also not responding. I tried to pull up the task manager to restart the process and was unable to do so. Alt + F4 also did nothing. I flipped the power switch on the PSU and ever since it will only boot up into the BIOS.
I have troubleshooted it for an hour now but I am stumped. Did I lose my 500GB NVME? That is the one that has the OS on it, it still shows up under boot manager/boot sequence but the 1TB drive does not. The 1TB drive shows up in the SATA information and the 500GB does not. I am very confused.
Is there a chance my Windows install just got corrupted? Really hoping I didn’t lose a drive. Thanks in advance for any help!
EDIT: If I go into boot sequence and click on the 500GB drive it says “No bootable device found.”
EDIT2: I have a Corsair Air 540 case which for some reason has a “Reset” button right next to the power button. I accidentally hit this instead of the power button when I attempted to turn on the PC after turning off the PSU. No idea if this matters, Google says to try resetting CMOS so that’s what I am going to do.
EDIT3: Cleared CMOS and rebooted, still only boots into BIOS but I didn’t tweak any settings after the reset. Everything still looks the same as the imgur link, only one bootable drive etc…got a NVME enclosure coming tonight so I will hopefully be able to see if the 500GB drive is bricked. I checked and CSM is still disabled.
I made some chicken noodle soup a couple days ago. I cleaned and sanitized some large mason jars and lids then filled them to the brim and capped on top of liquid. I let them cool for a little bit and then put them in the fridge where they all dimpled. I am eating one today for lunch and can see there is about 1/2" of air between the top of the soup and the lid.
My question is, under this procedure, how long would you guys be comfortable with eating the soup after? 1 week? 2 weeks?
I am not looking to keep them for a month or longer, just wondering if I could still safely eat them after a week or two. I don't really trust my nose and I am probably overly cautious when it comes to food safety.
Thanks in advance for any help!
