[Fabricated news] Beware of Fake Articles about Tech Bro CEOs. Please don't trust anything blindly and fact-check
TLDR : A reputed News Media outlet just got caught red-handed fabricating quotes attributed to Jeff Bezos. This spread like wildfire and went viral. As a responsible member of this community my appeal is to fact check claims even if you agree with it and it puts TECH BRO CEOs to shame. Spreading unverified claims can give such crooks the opportunity to label us as blind haters.
ThePrint (rather progressive and credible new organization) wrote an article Titled
"Amazon founder Jeff Bezos says human water consumption is limiting AI’s potential", which contained some fabricated quotes which they attributed to Jeff Bezos.
At first glance my reaction was that Jeff Bezos should stop using water across his 15-17 owned houses (30000 gallons of water per day) before he asks the common people to sacrifice their share of water for "Making the TECH BRO CEOs Richer".
To my surprise (and as I have a habit, rather a pet peeve to fact check everything), the entire following quote was Fake/fabricated/AI hallucinated
>“Biological limits are real, but digital potential is infinite. If we starve our data infrastructure of cooling resources just to sustain baseline human comfort, we are actively delaying the birth of a super-intelligence that could solve all of our resource problems in the first place.
>Sometimes you have to prioritise the intelligence that will save us over the biology that slows us down”
ThePrint, has since then :-
- modified the contents of the article to correct the factual details.
- removed the fabricated quotes and remarks.
- edited out the Post Title (the URL for the article however does not change).

Can you even Trust ThePrint now ?
I used to rely on ThePrint for credible reporting and not taking the Godi route to every news article they report.
While I harbour an immense resentment to Tech Bro CEOs and crooks like Scam Saltman, Jeff Bezos, I just found out that ThePrint just fabricated an entire quote attributing it to Jeff Bezos, which gained virality and upon fact checking from video transcript, its evident that the original Article by ThePrint was either "fabricated" or "AI hallucinated".
The following is the fabricated dialogue by ThePrint (this is not said by Jeff Bezos).

Print has changed the article content which now highlights the factually correct details of Jeff's comments. The URL still contains the false title (original fake claim by ThePrint).
