I love cats way too much

She’s 14 years old, and still wasn’t convinced she’s a Himalayan cuz she looked different
Found this sub reddit, and for the first time saw so many other cuties that look like her and it quadruple-millioned my love for sweet himalayans

Is my 14 year old cat gonna die

14 year old female Himalayan cat, spayed, never had kids. I can afford vet care to an extent

I know it’s long but please read, this is keeping me up at night , I love her so much

2 months ago I noticed for the first time in her life, my sweet cats long mane was matting, as she was not grooming herself.

I thought nothing of it and just groomed her myself.

she also wasn’t eating as often as she was and was getting skinnier

3 weeks ago I took her to the vet because u noticed something very weird on her tongue. the vet sent me home with antibiotics and pain killers . vet told me be recommends biopsy to see if it is malignant benign. he quoted me 2,500 for just a biopsy (including sedation) . the first vet took the photo of her mouth attached. as you can see her tongue is deteriorating

a week ago, I took my cat to another vet to do the biopsy, since the first vet was expensive af. the second vet told me , “you can do a biopsy if you want, but I can tell you 95% chance its cancer”. I think she said SCC (Squamous cell carcinoma ). I showed the vet this picture of her mouth I took before she started a week of antibiotics, and she told me the tumour has decreased in size.

the vet sent me home with 2 weeks of antibiotics and pain killers, and told me to “moniter” her.

since then my cat has had an (abnormally) huge appetite , eats 3 cans + treats a day, and her behaviour is completely normal to her sweet self . she just has trouble chewing and grooming, which I solved with grooming her myself and feeding her with a spoon.

if antibiotics can decrease the mass (in size), would it be cancer ? cancerous growths cannot decrease with antibiotics. but if so, why would her tongue be deteriorating? the vet told me that’s from the cells spreading.

I don’t rlly know what to do, but she seems completely normal.

will she die soon? idk. if I saw her in any more pain I would never let her suffer, but she seems happy to be alive and eating and running .

I would be happy with anyone to provide any insights, comments, opinions, further questions, etc please :) thanks for reading
