Meet Lala, the cow from Palas de Rei! 🐮 Creating a green space for pilgrims and animals on the Camino.
Hi everyone, Buen Camino!
If you have walked the Camino de Santiago through Galicia recently (specifically around Palas de Rei), you might have crossed paths with a slightly unusual local: a cow named Lala.
She is famous for stopping pilgrims, begging for snacks, posing for photos, and occasionally trying to eat things she definitely shouldn't!
I’m David, the human behind her. Together with Lala, two little pigs (Pili & Mili), and our tiny teammate Papi, we are working hard on LIULFE. It is a small, independent rural project right along the Camino where we are restoring old spaces, recovering land, and creating a space where nature, animals, and people can connect differently.
Until now, I've been doing and financing everything with my own two hands. However, we’ve reached a point where we need a little collective push to improve the animals' pastures, plant more trees, and keep this safe haven growing for future pilgrims and animals alike.
Meeting Lala is, and always will be, a completely free part of the Camino magic. You don't owe us anything. But if she ever made your day or made you smile during a tough walking stage, we would be incredibly grateful if you could check out our journey or share it.
If you'd like to see what we are building or help us you can follow our journey here on instagram: lalaliulfe casaliulfe
Thank you so much to everyone who has already smiled back at Lala on the trail. Ultreia!
