I’ve been looking for a job for 6 months now and still have nothing.
I was leading the D2C vertical for a consumer brand based out of Pune until April. My previous compensation was 16 LPA fixed, and I’ve been targeting roles above 20 LPA in Bangalore, but I'm getting virtually no responses. Some brands have interviewed and rejected me due to point 1 below.
Prior to leading D2C, my experience was focused on managing marketplaces for another brand.
I’m feeling incredibly frustrated and would like to get some realistic feedback on a few fronts:
Is my blended experience (Marketplace + D2C) actually working against me? Are companies strictly looking for hyper-focused niches like performance marketing specialists rather than generalists who can handle both?
Is asking for 20+ LPA fixed too high for this profile in the current environment, or am I hitting a filtration wall?
Is the E-commerce/D2C hiring market genuinely this brutal right now, or is there a specific flaw in how I'm positioning myself?
Would appreciate any blunt insights, market reality checks, or advice on how to pivot my approach.
