I'm scared

Today is day one for me. I received the news of clear cell renal cell carcinoma in my left kidney and it has made it to my lungs in three spots. I talked to the oncologist and will begin the pill and autoimmune iv plan, but I was t to know in real world situations, how bad is this journey? Like, am I able to work as a school bus driver still? Am I going to be able to do things in my life? He told me that eventually cancer becomes resistant and mutates and you will die. I guess what I'm asking, is it worth it for a 54 year old male to fight this? Thanks and i how this community becomes a valuable resource for me and I hope can support others as well.

Help if you can

My wife and I work with Myles Ahead Animal Sanctuary and Rescue and they are looking for some help. They just rescued a group of puppies over the weekend and will be taking in an additional 45 or so on Monday. If you have the means in any way possible, could you consider helping? I can't submit a link as it says the post would not be allowed. You can find them on Facebook. Thank you.

Filling in usernames and passwords

It seems more often than not 1password does not prompt me to fill in username and password Fields on my Android device. I find that most of the time I have to copy and paste usernames and passwords more than they are auto-filled. If the settings weren't correct then all sites would not work but that's not the case. Some sites do work while others do not. I do know how to manually add a URL but it just seems to not work sometimes. Am I the only one that experiences this?

My favorite story from the year

It was a hot afternoon driving the K-2 students home. They are my favorite. I was hot and sweaty. They were hot and sweaty. It was just a very miserable afternoon. I announced to the bus that I really wished I could share with them just how moist my back was. After announcing this to the bus, about 4 or 5 of them came up and started trying to feel my back!! Lol. The freaks. I love 'em and I'm gonna miss 'em. Have a great summer, y'all!!

Lego Batman

Other than being portable, would there be any other reasons to get Lego Batman on switch 2 vs PC?

Deck repair questions

Hello. I'm going to be resealing this 4 year old deck this year and I wanted to address a few issues before I do.

  1. When the deck was built (not by me) the ledger board was fastened directly to the brick. They didn't install any kind of flashing. Water isn't getting behind the bricks, but it does run down the wall on the outside. What is my best option to try to prevent the rain from running down the brick wall? This is a raised deck and we use it underneath as a sitting area for a patio. I was going to clean it well and use silicone.

  2. One of the deck boards has a long piece that's beginning to peel up. Should I just replace the board, or pull off the peeling section, sand it, and then seal it?

  3. What is a good product to use to fill knots?

Thanks for any advice you can offer!

I enjoy working on cars under certain conditions. I don't like being pressured to have it done by a certain day (like Monday morning for work), and I don't like super complicated repairs. I think it's a fun hobby and I was considering getting an older car that's easy to work on. I did some research and found for instance, Honda civics from like 1996 to 2000 are considered to be easy to work on, readily available parts that aren't super expensive, and it wouldn't be my daily driver. Does anybody else do this? Is it a very expensive hobby? I'm not interested in making a showcar car that I can drive when I want and to enjoy the satisfaction of keeping it maintained. I saw listed for instance a 200? Honda for $10,000. It had low mileage and I thought that kind of thing would be fun to keep around and work on. I'm interested in your thoughts. Have a good day

My daily driver is a 2014 Chevy Cruze. It has 140k miles on it. It's been a good car for me overall I think because, I've kept up on basic maintenance. I only drive 5 minutes to work a couple times a day, so I don't drive it very far or very fast. It's all city driving.

I really don't want a car payment. I hate car payments, especially since I just don't drive that much and I don't need the new fancy stuff.

My question is, how do I know if/when it's worth repairing and maintaining a vehicle versus replacing it. For instance, I'm pretty sure I should consider replacing the shocks and/or struts. I can do the job, but I don't know if it's worth putting all that money into the parts. I want to be proactive in regards to owning the vehicle. I'd prefer to replace things before they break. Like, how do I know when I should replace a water pump, or power steering pump, etc.? Thanks for any answers you can provide. This is a cool community!

I have a 2022 Toyota Corolla that I let my son buy from me. The time has come to do a brake job and I typically replace all the pads and all the rotors. We started with the back brakes and we removed the first caliper and I noticed that there was an attachment to the caliper. It is the actuator for the electronic brake system. With the caliper removed we put the brakes into maintenance mode which pushed the Piston all the way out and the actuator unwound so much that it no longer will go back. So we have to buy a new actuator and caliper. We've learned to put the brakes into maintenance mode prior to removing the caliper. Expensive mistake.
