About my Pleistocene comic…..

Hey To the very few of you who have seen my updates over the past few years about my Pleistocene comic, which has gone through many names over the years but currently and for the longest time has been called The Legend of Hanska, I wanted to give an update.
For those of you wondering why it hasn’t come out or why I haven’t really made any updates in the past year and a half, the honest answer is burnout and an overall decline in my mental health. During my last two years of high school, my mental health took a steep decline. I became very depressed and lost all motivation to draw or do anything creative, let alone continue producing the comic. I was about halfway through the final draft when I lost all my drive and unfortunately gave up on this passion project I had been working on since I was 14.
However, things have a habit of getting better. I have since recovered from that difficult period in my life. Without getting too personal, I’ve surrounded myself with better people, and I got a girlfriend a few months ago who has been a great help in getting this project back together. Because of that, I’ve decided to pick up where I left off a year and a half ago, although there have been some changes across the board.
The setting has been changed from the Great Basin and the Great Plains to the Pacific Northwest. The comic is now set in an area stretching roughly from Northern California to southern Alaska.
With the change in setting, a few background and main species have also been changed. Bighorn sheep have been replaced with Dall sheep, Columbian mammoths with woolly mammoths, Eremotherium with Paramylodon, Bison latifrons with Bison antiquus, and bobcats with Canadian lynx.
Since the setting is now closer to the coast, a few new species have been added, including harbor seals, Steller’s sea lions, Pacific walruses, sea otters, humpback whales (mainly seen as carcasses along the shoreline), Steller’s sea cows, and various species of fish.
The setting being further north has also given me more room to add species such as musk oxen and stag moose.
I will not be majorly redesigning any of the previous designs I’ve made, so don’t expect many of those design sheets to be posted on this sub. I’ve also made some rewrites to accommodate the change in setting.
The prologue and Chapter 1 should be released over the next month if everything goes as planned.
Anyways, here are a couple of backgrounds I made over the past month, along with some new sketches of Smilodon

Here’s my wishlist for future species

Obviously I don’t expect these species to come to the game so I’m not going to be upset if these don’t come in the future but it would be a nice surprise if they did.

Hm:thylacine,dodo,ornitholestes,edaphosaurus,
Megaladipus,leptictidium,arizonasaurus,
postosuchus,deinonychus,and thylacoleo

1.gigantopithecus:it’s one that’s pretty much a given
It’s pretty much the only ape that could fit in this game and it’s pretty popular,it would also stand out in the roster as it’s pretty unique when it comes to the other mammals in the game.

2.kelenken:kelenken is the largest of the phorusrhacids it’s also again pretty recognizable as it’s a terror bird.it would also be adorable to see Nigel have a little quip about it referencing prehistoric park.

3:megalania:megalania would be a first in a lot of aspects and it’s one of my favorite animals from prehistoric Australia and they could possibly give it a venom mechanic which I know that’s probably far out of reach but it’s cool to think about.

4:a prehistoric canine/canine like animal
Such as the dire wolf, epicyon or amphicyon.
I think the dire wolf is probably the most likely but epicyon and amphicyon are very unique when it comes canine type animals, amphicyon specifically has multiple species that all had different niches and characteristics so they could add those as an allosaurus type situation.

5.ambulocetus:ambulocetus is a very noteworthy genus as it’s one of the early cetaceans and its sort of a mammalian crocodile they could have it be almost like tiktaalik where it spends 90% of its time in the water but will come on land for short periods.

6.a prehistoric crocodilian such as purussaurus, deinosuchus or sarchosuchus.
They could honestly add deinosuchus and purrusaurus as both were alligators and it could be a juxia and paraceratherium situation

7.maip:need i say more one of in my opinion the coolest theropods known to science.

8.inostrancevia:inostrancevia is pretty much a given at this point it’s a gorgonopsid and it’s Paleozoic representation which is surprisingly lacking in this game at the moment.

9.nanuqsaurus:nanuqsaurus is my personal favorite dinosaur and while I don’t seeing making an appearance in the roster it is one of the most interesting tyrannosaurs that lived in the same area and same time as ugrunaaluk and pachyrhinosaurus perotorum.

10.troodon:the now valid troodon is a very similar to velociraptor so it’s again a species I don’t see making it in but it is a very recognizable species and is rather unique for being know as one of the smarter dinosaurs.

Let me know what ya’ll’s most wanted species are in the comments.
