Any way to make your "unread messages" disappear? "Mark all as read" is no longer an option on "old.reddit.com"

Every time I get a comment reply it adds to the pile. A couple of weeks ago I was able to select "mark all as read" in the bottom of my messages/comment reply window. That button has disappeared.

I do not want to move to new.reddit or use any kind of app, any ideas?
