Constant lag spikes and packet loss
Recently moved into a new home this May. Spectrum is the only option in my area. Online gaming is completely impossible with my spectrum connection. Sometimes I can go an hour or two just fine, but more often than not, I will get lag spikes and packet loss for anywhere from 5 seconds to several minutes at a time every few minutes. This means on a game like counter strike, I am getting a lag spike where I can't even move my character at least every round. I've tried everything
Replacing spectrum router with Ubiquiti Dream Router 7
Hardwiring my desktop directly into my router
Replacing every ethernet cable
I've spent a ton of time and money trying to fix this. Routing all new cables, replacing everything, $300 new router. I feel defeated like this will never be remedied
With my current setup, I have the modem plugged directly into my coaxial drop in my basement. I had a tech come out yesterday and he said he replaced some cabling outside that was chewed by squirrels. However, when I tried to game that night I was met with the near constant lag spikes. My ubiquiti router shows my internet having around a 96% uptime with tons of red and black spikes in connection. What can I do to remedy this? I have been reading about modems that have had issues (ES2251 and EN2251). But my modem is the EU2251 which is supposed to be good. What can I do to try to fix this? I feel as if I call spectrum support again they will just come out and change out the modem.
