This was shot on a Nikon D80, 50mm f/1.8 lens. Settings: ISO 500, f / 1.8, 1/1000 sec. I really want to take more woodland shots like this but they always come out super noisy and don't hold up to being enlarged much bigger than a phone screen. If I crank up the noise-reduction too high in lightroom the photos become soft and lose details. I struggle with noise a lot in general. I've been told the Nikon D80 is just too old to handle low-light conditions well but I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to improve, whether it's better lightroom techniques, if I need to learn photoshop, or even if I'm using the wrong lens for this. Any advice appreciated.
**EDIT
Thanks everyone, the consensus is definitely that I really need to drop down my shutter speed. I typically keep it high to snap any unplanned movement as I find those can be the best shots, but I will practice and get more comfortable dropping it down. I got some other great advice here too, I’ll leave the post up in case this is informative for anyone else.
I forgot to turn on my GoPro for the first 20 minutes of sprinting but I was able to get footage of some nice relaxing jogging afterwards 😅
