I'm from a village in western Vidarbha, Maharashtra, and my experience has been quite different from what is often discussed online regarding caste discrimination.
Our village has people from many communities, including Matang, Chamar (SC), Mali, Kunbi, Maratha, Rajput, and Bhil (ST), among others. Despite this diversity, I've never personally seen anyone being denied entry to a temple or stopped from taking blessings because of their caste. Everyone visits the same temples, participates in festivals, and attends village events together.
I'm not saying caste discrimination doesn't exist—it certainly does in some places, and those experiences shouldn't be ignored. But I also think it's important to acknowledge villages where social relations have improved and people live together with relatively less caste-based discrimination.
I'm sharing only my personal experience, not claiming it represents all of Vidarbha. I'd be interested to know if others from Vidarbha have had a similar experience or a completely different one. Please keep the discussion respectful.
The new Badnera flyover (Amravati) is a great piece of infrastructure. Better roads, proper lighting, lane markings, reflectors—it's something the city can be proud of.
But within days, people have already started damaging the infrastructure. In the photos, you can see the broken green divider posts that were installed to improve safety
