the state of the sub

mfs be on here talking bout how the community is washed up and new ppl don’t understand what once was and shit but

i think of it as a new era in some ways for the whole community
it makes me appreciate having been there more

to witness his transformation from the “look at me” rapper to 17 was genuinely mindblowing in 2017 and the shit he had been through to get to that point was arguably only something he could’ve possibly experienced let alone have been in a position to bring it to the public eye like he did

and to have made such art from his experiences

it leaves me appreciative being able to appreciate it

im glad i was around then and im glad to be here now

and if ur an oldhead unc like me now and you know what i mean
its something to be appreciated rather than missed

he lives on through US in our hearts

thank you for coming to my ted talk
let’s discuss this before i feel ashamed of my post history and delete it

The Lack of Story

I definitely think the neo-moco is an improvement in certain areas of the game, but I have voiced my qualms with the removal of power progression, and the lack of story is another element I did not expect to see removed and absent in the update. While story content was brief and simple before, it’s a level of immersion that’s almost required to really set the tone of an MMO-anything in my eyes. The feeling you get when “Luna” requires you to “do this thing,” for Manny, to save the cats, whatnot, acts as a significant bridge between the world and the players’ place in it.

The absence of story we have in the current update leaves the game feeling more hollow than it did before. It’s like being in a big open sandbox, that now has higher quality sand, but no clear reason to do anything in it. Leaving me just feeling messy and sandy for playing in it. At least if Luna told me, “we need to build this sandcastle to have a place to hide from Draynor,” now I’m incentivized and immersed. It’s not about the sand, it’s about building a place for the gang to stay!

Yes, there are objectives in each world still in the current update. But without any given reason or character to connect it to, they’re quite literally arbitrary.

Story also gives you something to look forward to & something to chew on when you’re not playing. If 3 quests for Luna all were built upon each other in a story framework, I might think about these things while away, and wonder where the 4th part will take me; what’s it building to? But then again, I need to clean my house in real life, and in a moco without any story driving anything, it’s hard to find an excuse to play it rather than clean, or something!

Unless I really wanted a new weapon, I might then have a reason to grind, but I basically don’t. I always thought the summoner builds were most fun, and my most memorable period with the old moco was rushing for the buzz sword to finally have an army of bees. There are no summoner weapons in this update, though, so even then, there’s hardly a weapon I care to play for.

I am hopeful this is just the beginning and I really want to play and enjoy Moco. I like the team, I love the world and the art, and a game of this style and quality on my phone is probably closest to what I’ve wanted from supercell ever. I want to be excited about this update. But having tried it a few times for maybe 30mins to an hour so far, I’m finding trouble even remembering that it’s updated or wanting to play it.

Just wanted to share my thoughts and discuss.
