Such Times, Christopher Coe. Audiobook wish list

Absolutely adored this novel. However, 99% of my literature intake is audiobook. And to my knowledge, none exists for this one. So I had to use my dumb little eyeballs to read the whole thing. Just for fun, anyone have wishes for who would do it? I was hearing the actor/comedian John Early in my head while reading it.

horizontal gripped ereaders

I have a kindle paperwhite and while it's light and slim, I find it very awkward to hold. I have to grip the bottom frame with my thumbs and 2nd and 3rd fingers. I can't seem to get comfortable holding it without having my fingers on the screen. Anyone have experience switching from a more vertically oriented ereader to something where you grip it from the side, like pocketbook era or kobo libra? Will it relieve my poor little fingies?

What do you say when people ask "where did they get [insert physical trait]?"

We have a toddler who we cared for since birth as foster parents and have adopted him. Just by chance he looks surprisingly similar to my spouse and me, except that he has glowing blue eyes and we both have brown eyes. How do you respond when acquaintances who don't know your child is adopted ask about that type of heritable trait.

is there any other platform that accomplishes what kindle does?

I'm all for hating on Amazon and Kindle and would love to change, but I haven't found anything else that accomplishes the following uses, but please correct me:

  • I read books on my phone and on my ereader and occasionally from my computer. Kindle allows me to have a book synced between all three locations. I mostly read non-kindle epubs that I get to kindle via sendtokindle website. The only hiccup here is that sideloaded epubs don't show up on the kindle web reader, and they are discontinuing the kindle desktop app
  • I read ebooks from my local library that I get through Libby and then click the "read on kindle" button. This part I don't understand, because I hear people say they cannot read library ebooks on a kindle or that it is really cumbersome. It is extremely simple for me...
  • I rarely read a book more than once so I don't really care that much about this concept that people say "you don't own your books when you buy them from kindle"
  • I really like the kindle feature estimating time left in a chapter. I don't think many other platforms have that.

For Kobo, I know you can get library books and can send epubs and pdfs to the reader. But I don't think they epubs are synced or readable on the kobo phone app or kobo web reader (?).

The new pulitzer prize winner announcement made me curious what are the least "popular" winners. Obviously number of GR ratings is a very limited way to determine popularity. I read the descriptions and they all seem highly uninteresting to me. Do you read something based purely on trust in an award it has won?

Anyone read these?

  • The Store by Stribling (731 ratings)
  • Journey in the Dark by Flavin (851 ratings)
  • Dragon's Teeth by Sinclair (1131 ratings)
