Total Newbie - Please Help

I flashed Fresh Tomato to my Netgear R7000 router today. I've successfully setup my main 2.4 & 5Ghz networks. Miracles can happen!

I'd like to create guest networks (one 2.4, the other 5) so my smart devices (I think they're referred to as "IoTs?) are "quarantined" from my main network.

Please forgive me if I don't get the lingo perfectly correct. I am NOT a wizard with any of this sort of thing.

I tried to create the guest networks using the FT Wiki but it's not intuitive for non-computer-wizard me.

Can someone possibly really dumb down the steps I have to take in order to create these 2 networks?

Thank you!

Netgear Nighthawk R7000 - Guest Network

I know it's a dinosaur but I'm trying to wrench every single bit of use out of it before dropping $$$ on something new. Times are tough.

Overnight my guest network and all the smart devices attached to it dropped off my network.

I've rebooted the modem (also a Netgear product that I bought myself) and the router multiple times. No success.

I toggled the guest network off on the web interface for at least 30 seconds and toggled it back on. No change.

I changed the channel on the 2gHz network from 11 to 6. No change.

I unplugged the router from it's power source for at least 30 seconds, plugged it back in. The LED on the router for the 2gHz network is white. But still: no change.

I don't know what else to do. I know factory reset is an option but UGHHHHH. I set this thing up YEARS ago and I am **NOT** a tech wizard. I don't remember all the stuff I did! I realize there's something called (I think) an IP config file(?) that can save my customization settings for the router but:

  1. I have no idea if one can be created for this router,

  2. how to create one, if one can,

  3. nor how, after doing the factory re-set, to do whatever it is I would need to do with the IP config file(?) to get my customization settings back in place.

In short, I know just enough to be dangerous. HELP! Thank you.

I finally realize why, having asked a friend if they would go with me to see places, they unhesitatingly said "NO!" And when I asked why they replied, "Because I hate them. ALL of them. Brokers, lenders, realtors: the whole bunch."

I get it. I totally get it now.
