Can CTS only cause pain in the thumb / thenar area?

I developed pain that originated in the thenar area (the fleshy area of the hand below the base of your thumb) and my wrist. It had some clicking sensations and pain in certain areas or motions. I went to urgent care and got x-rays that were negative and a splint because I was told it’s CTS. I have been kind of wearing the brace, but the nature of my work requires me to use my hands so I haven’t been able to consistently wear it. Now the pain isn’t in the wrist, but it’s only in the thenar area and it’s really painful. It hurts to pick stuff up or move my thumb, even while trying to pick things up wearing the brace. I tried to massage it and it just made it worse. I have reduced mobility too

[CT] New job - no offer letter, background check or orientation - red flag?

Hi! I started a new job this week and I was given a verbal offer but never given an official offer letter or document stating my position/pay rate. I also never had to complete a background check. I’m confused because this company is a small business but they are very big in my state and it is for the decor/floral team for corporate events and weddings with huge organizations throughout my state. I’m not sure if this is typical. It is a pretty family-oriented business so I’m not sure if that affects anything. The other weird that happened today (only my second day) is that one of my coworkers was talking to my boss and had some sort of personal scheduling issue regarding picking her brother up and said to my boss “he’s 20 years old, can i take him to work tomorrow to have him help us?” and my boss replied “yeah that’s fine we just have to get his payment info so he can get paid for it.” and that was just weird to me because while it is a family member of a coworker, that person is not an employee, nor would they have a background check done on them. The company has a lot of employees and stellar ratings so I’m just a little confused. I also never had orientation or anything. I did do a state and federal W-4, as well as sign the handbook, add my direct deposit, do the sexual harassment training and upload my two forms of identification so they are doing some things by the book but the no background check, offer letter, or orientation seems a bit weird to me. Everyone is super nice and down to earth and very reputable but are these red flags?

Any advice and insight would be helpful. Thank you!

how do you explain your hot flashes?

I’m 25F and diagnosed with POTS.

I have severe hot flashes and Raynaud’s phenomenon but when my hot flashes happen I feel like I have the flu or a fever even though my temperature is normal. I’ve been sitting in front of a fan all day. My face gets bright red and hot to the touch that I can’t even feel an ice pack on my cheeks sometimes because they’re too numb, I need air circulation or I feel like I’m suffering, I’m extremely fatigued to the point that just talking is too much and I feel really, really hot. This will last hours to days. I’m also wondering if it’s PEM because I started a new job yesterday after not working for several months and it’s a physical job of event coordinating/decorating and I think I overdid it yesterday.

25F, newly diagnosed with POTS.

these hot flashes are terrible and feel like they’re happening more often than not lately. I need to change something because I can’t keep feeling like this, it’s miserable. My face gets bright red and hot, I feel like I’m suffocating and I feel like I have the flu/fever when I’m in a flash.

What have you done to manage?

hey 👋

25F and just got diagnosed with POTS by my cardiologist.

I honestly have a whole array of emotions going on but also so much relief because so many things make sense to me now. I’ve been trying to figure out what’s wrong with me for like 8 years.

Male, 5’10”, 290lbs, 25 years old

This purple bruise thing appeared like out of nowhere. It’s in between his abdomen and his pelvis area. He only noticed it because he was in the shower the other day and when he was rinsing with the nozzle he felt a sharp sting come from the wound when the water hit it. When I looked at it, it did have a hole in the middle, we also don’t know why it’s like mirrored and the exact same next to it. He’s getting a bit anxious about it because he doesn’t think any bug could’ve bitten him or anything. He has no idea where it came from. No drainage that he knows of and only a little pain. We did disinfect it and put neosporin on it. Any ideas what this could be?
