36F: Looking for horror movie friends around my age. Start with Hokum this Sunday?

Hello all,

I'm looking to make some friends who are into horror movies. Unfortunately my best friend lives out of state and my SIL moved far away so I have no horror movie buddies in Massachusetts. This is very sad for me. #rip

Ideally, I'm looking for people who are potential friends who also like horror movies so we can eventually hang out at each other's place for horror movie nights. Not just people that go to a horror movie and never talk to each other. Also because a movie theater-based friendship isn't really my jam.

However, I have been told it's probably not a good idea to immediately host a horror movie night at my place with my popcorn and jellybean bar for randos because "What if they're serial killers too?" and "What if you get murdered?" And I say that sounds like a problem for my apartment complex because I'll haunt my downstairs neighbor if I die.

> #Here's My Modest Proposal

  • Date: Sunday, May 24th
  • Location: AMC Boston Common 19
  • Time: 4:30PM
  • Movie: Hokum

Maybe get mocktails/cocktails afterwards and discuss the movie: likes, dislikes, themes, etc.

> #About Me

  • 36F
  • Turbo extroverted; I'm usually doing some activity 6 days a week with someone(s)
  • Likes these subgenres of horror: Thriller, Psychological Horror, Black Horror, Feminist Horror, Haunted House Horror, Comedy Horror, great creature designs in movies, Sci-Fi Horror
  • Dislikes: Extreme violence and modern slashers (think Terrifier), horror movies with rape and/or sexual violence, I'm not a super huge fan of body horror (like The Substance even though I liked the storyline)
  • 3 most recent horror movies I saw: Nightmare on Elm Street, Exit 8, and Undertone
  • 3 horror movies I recommend to people: Talk to Me, The Endless, and Late Night with the Devil
  • Looking forward to seeing: Backrooms

That's about it, thanks for reading! Looking forward to potentially making some more outgoing new friends.

Hello,

Thank you so much for the postcard! Oooh, so for horror I saw Exit 8, and I want to see Hokum that just came out.

I do love some classic movies and the original HG Wells is a classic.

Cheers,

~L
