Switching Vertex VX-924 from UHF high (450-512 MHz) to UHF low (400-470 MHz)?

I've got an old Vertex VX-924, along with the programming cable and software.  It's a great radio that I carried for years professionally, and I'd like to dust it off now that I'm a ham.  It's the UHF high (450-512 MHz) variant, and I need the UHF low (400-470 MHz).  Anyone know if there is a means to switch it over?

+/- Doppler Shift?

Bear with me if this is a painful “noob” question…. I’ve been playing around with SSTV and voice from the ISS, and I haven’t fully wrapped my brain around the Doppler shift adjustments. What determines whether you should start the adjustments above or below the target frequency? Is it an ascending versus descending pass that I should be taking into account, or something else?

SDR software that can I can park on a frequency to record audio clips and signal strength?

Ham Radio Crash Course has a video on Youtube where he tests out HT antennas by going out to a park and running radio checks back to his home, where he's got a program running that records audio clips and records the corresponding signal strength. He doesn't name the software that he's running. Can anyone recommend something that runs on Windows that I can pair with an SDR to accomplish the same thing?

I’ve been playing around with decoding radio fax broadcasts the last couple of weeks, and finally managed to coax a Deutsche Wetterdienst transmission out of the ether from Atlanta.

I’m a huge history nerd, and I’m planning on eventually learning CW. I’d like to pick up a WW2 military key of some sort to use, in addition to having it as a collectible. I have one that I picked up randomly at an antique store, but it’s got a zinc alloy base that’s warped to the point where it won’t sit flat. Anyhow, anyone have any recommendations for a wartime key that can be adapted for use in the present day?

I’ve gone through the manual to no avail. Anyone know what this mystery icon on my GS-10b might signify? Whatever it is, it’s on most if not all the time.
