Sick cat in Taketomi Island
Hi all, I am visiting some islands in Okinawa at the moment. I am now in Ishigaki and took a day trip to Taketomi today. At the island, I found this kitten who seemed visibly sick and had some respiratory issues. I wanted to bring her to a vet but there are no vets on Taketomi Island and I didn’t have anything to bring her in to Ishigaki either so I had to leave her.
I called a veterinarian today and they said they can’t treat her if I am not going to keep her but I just wanted to get her healthy so she doesn’t suffer. I was also planning to ask a local man I met that regularly feeds stray cats if she can stay around his area with the other cats. I don’t know what to do, as I don’t even know where one can get a carrier. I asked the vet if I can rent one from them but that was a no.
Does anyone know how I can help this cat?
