Ophthalmologist billing scheme
I saw Ophth #1, she gave me a script for prism glasses. The glasses maybe help a little? I don’t know, but I’ve been getting eye strain and worsening of headaches since wearing them. I went back to her, and she really just brushed off all my concerns.
I’m going to see Ophth #2, this one who seems to have more expertise in BVD, hoping to get my prescription corrected before time runs out to get my glasses redone.
But their billing seems very odd to me. The receptionist said that there is a $50 fee if I am given a prescription. That strikes me as odd.
Plus, she said that the Dr will determine during the appointment whether to bill me for a medical or optical appointment. Ergo insurance coverage or out-of-pocket.
The last office did none of this, and I’m feeling a little weary. What do you guys think?
