I’m a DJ/Producer and I’d like to share with you some of my workflow as well as a few questions, and have your take on it:
- What do you use for your Kicks? A specific sample pack/vst (like kick3 for example)?
- I usually have my kick (and sometimes sub) glued together , and then group all the rest of my channels and duck this group from the kick/bass with a Shaperbox
What do you think about this? Would you make it duck only the kick or the whole group?
I sometimes just lack low-end punch/space/clarity hence my question
- I don’t have “fixed” values but this is how I gain stage my tracks more or less:
kick around -8
Vox around -10
Bass/melodies/instruments around -12
Percs/pads/atmos/drones around -15
Any thoughts/suggestions?
- some of the vsts I used to use in earlier stages of my career i don’t now because of white noise/not needed sound information (CLA76, H-Delay…)
What are your go to/simple: compressors? Delays?
- i don’t have reverb/delay on my separate channel but Im lazy and send all my channels on my reverb and delay return tracks. What are your suggestions to set up separate delay/reverb return tracks in my default template?
- I lack workflow tips to work faster.. what are your best workflow/template tips in Ableton? What are must-have default settings/template that made your life simpler?
