What’s your favorite artifact / memento in the show?

Which memento is your favorite and why?

Obviously the messy, extremely emotional, and obsessive vampires cling onto various objects to preserve their passions & loved ones; representing their human memory as well as significant post-transformational traumas. These artifacts serve to anchor them in their past & relationships.

Thanks to other users for posting interesting threads 🧵 the past few days about Lestat’s hands & Nicki’s music box, the ongoing comment discussions about the Marquis’ pendant 📿 passed through Gabriella as parting gift to Lestat, and finally, as a gift for Claudia’s birthday. 🎂 Also, not pictured, is Claudia’s diary 📔, which could be the topic of an entire uni course by itself.

Armand dark mirror Lestat

So what is Armand’s very important role to Lestat? Can we discuss this fandom? What’s your take?

—————————-
Armand is Lestat’s Dark Mirror 🪞 right?

My take is that Armand is what Lestat fears he will become with enough time elapsed into immortality and detachment from those he loves (because they all leave him or perish). Is that why Lestat is always experiencing all ends of the emotional spectrum? To make sure he can retain them?

Armand is control / enthalpy while Lestat is chaos / entropy. While Lestat seems to abhor giving direction, he is a tryhard lover boy who wants you to fall under his spell, but he very much wants you to consent to it. Armand, on the other hand doesn’t seem concerned with that as long as he is capable of covertly operating in the shadows through intermediaries or direct outright manipulation to achieve control over you. To Armand the means justify the end and to Lestat it seems the journey is the point - whether he achieves his goal is pretty random (sometimes he does, other times something else happens and oftentimes he has no idea what’s going to happen).

Armand is a broken boy from the awful trauma he hasn’t fully processed from his childhood which has transcended transformation. He needs the 5 laws as his grounding principles, he believes them to be righteous and necessary.

Lestat seems too chaotic to be controlled and too self destructive to control outcomes, he’s focused more on his own soul’s individuality rather than the “greater good” of his kind or any sort of collectivism, really. These two are such a fascinating study in collectivism vs individuality.

—————————-

TLDR

Lestat is revolutionary 🇫🇷 France "Liberté, égalité, fraternité" (I see what they did there with Nickistat’s convo), combustible self expression, openly individualistic & free, exploratory, passion > reason

Armand is 🇮🇹 🙏Venice during the Renaissance - Machiavellian maneuvering, reinforcing the hierarchy, religion, secretive, laws abided for the survival of the institution and sacrifice of individuality for peace and order, reason > passion

Memes - Stuff I didn’t post before…

Hi,

I’m Alley and I have a problem. I am a collector, in all ways, of all beautiful and fascinating things. I guess, le sigh, this show has become one of those things.

Here’s what I didn’t post before because some of you seemed to enjoy the last post… so I figured, own it, be weird and Lestat about it, so I’m lovebombing.

I love this show.

Once again, thank you to the beautiful people, in front of & behind the scenes who create this show.

Another Reddeet0r commented that Eric likes memes so I hope he enjoys 🩶

First 3 memes are by yours truly, the rest are curated from the web & social media and credit given to their creators (often tagged inside).

✌️🖤🩸

PS. I love everyone else’s memes, send me, tag me, lemme see 👀 if you have ideas just post them and if I’m intrigued, I’ll make them if you wish me to (credit will be given)

Who wore it better? (Quatre) Puffy Bishop Sleeve Victorian Poet Shirt Edition

Who wore the white Puffy Bishop Sleeve (Victorian Poet) Shirt better?

 - Samstat, NickyPotter, Louiepitt or Tomstat?

Comment below 👇

The Poet Sleeved shirt is a staple in the Victorian wardrobe of the Vampire. Let’s look at past iterations of cinematic history (the #IWTV movie) and compare to our favorite show. These posts are a love letter to the actors & costume departments. ❤️‍🔥The designers have meticulously crafted billowy costumes and the actors have been charged with imbuing the garment with aristocratic elegance, provocation, and Gothic desire. 🩸

We have 4 contestants and I have added MORE photos (please peruse before making your judgement) for your research.

What happened to IWTV / TVC cover art?

Can someone explain what happened to the cover art? 📚I had all these mass market TVC paperbacks in the 90s and they were saturated and had cover art. Now, you have only the option of gothic text on a blue or red background in the store. Did you all notice this?!?!?

—— I wanted to repurchase (my mom gave away my OG teenager copies, sacrilege, when she moved) so I went to Barnes & Noble and I almost let out the most blood curdling scream in frustration. At who? I’m not sure because it’s certainly not the fault of the college aged sales reps who work there.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE COVER ART? 💀Where did it go? Do we not deserve something on these books - no artistic concept, no photography, no visual manifestation whatsoever of the contents?

Like any savvy millennial, I found something on secondhand site Poshmark (thanks to the seller who somehow had a shrink wrapped Ballantine box set from early 2000s (?)). It’s still mass market but at least there’s some color and artistic sensibility.

Can we get the cover art back? Can someone hit up Christopher to rectify this situation?!

I want more people to read and love these books… I fear we won’t “make more” 😭

TVL Chibi Stickers happy mail!

Guys my heart is so happy! Look what came in today - #tvl #iwtv stickers I ordered from Sasha @JustWangDraw user on Twitter / @girl_just_wanna_draw on Instagram.

I adore this fan art!!!! 🫶🖤

——-

I ordered from an affiliated IzoStickersLab Etsy store. They arrived from Ukraine 🇺🇦 to south FL, USA 🌴🇺🇸 in way less time than I expected (approx 2 weeks).

I also ordered some stickers (last pic & periphery of photos 2-4) from @Yuecrafter also on Etsy but those came within about a week since it’s a stateside seller.

——- AMC Request ‼️

AMC Please please please make tshirts with this art. Lots of the fandom shirts are pretty gory and not necessarily cute or appropriate to wear to shopping centres, grocery stores or on a kids playground in broad daylight ☀️

These are going on EvErYtHiNg from my water bottles to phone 😍

Who wore it better? (Trois) Top Hat & Coachman Coat Edition

Who wore the Top Hat & Coachman Coat look better - Samstat, Dr. Dafoe, Tomcat or Vlad Oldman?

Everlasting pining for our Vampiric series has brought us here - re-watching “Nosferatu” 2024, “IWTV” 1994, “Bram Stoker’s Dracula” 1992 to get through the #TVL to #QoTD drought.

Hundreds voted for their favorites in the last couple posts of this series so let’s explore more classic vampire fashion. We now we have 4 actors and I added MORE photos for your costume research and viewing pleasure.

Who wore it better? (Deux) Violet Glasses Edition

Who wore the Violet Glasses look better - Vlad Oldman, Mon Cher (LDPDL) or Samstat?

Comment below 👇

Inspired by OG Gary Oldman’s performance recalled by Sam, I rewatched the classic to soothe the absence of Loustat, #iwtv / #tvl and it didn’t work, so here we are again…

Y’all went feral with the last post and it was an absolutely blowout loss for one party so let’s mix it up with a 3-way contest to make this more interesting.

Gary Oldman as Vlad Dracula in Francis Ford Coppola's "Bram Stoker's Dracula" from 1992

Guys, who wrote this line?

Was this written by a woman? What sort of a man speaks or thinks this way? More importantly: why doesn’t he actually exist?

Don’t get me wrong, Lestat is full of whimsical flourishes, alliterative euphemisms and meta turn-of-phrases, but i think it just really stirs. The combination of gritty-worded, posed poignantly, and sincerely plainly stated that is comes across as having more veracity than most of his proclamations. This one leaves no ambiguity.

I’m really just in awe and I can’t stop thinking about how well it’s written (& obviously delivered).

Bravo. 👏

What if Lestat dressed Akasha? 😍

I had this vision of Lestat choosing pieces of clothing from eras missed by Akasha during her long “slumber” - of course they would reflect her stature as Queen but also the elevated fabrics and styles Lestat has come to love (echoing clothes he’s worn throughout season 3 and their silk and velvet fabrics and obviously a feathered cape to call back to their original because IYKYK).

Here are my style suggestions for this look:

💠Bronze hardware, gold jewelry 💠Lapis lazuli accent stones & pearls 💠Art nouveau detailing 💠Greco-Roman 💠Brocade & chiffon (silks) 💠Feathered cape with hardware fastenings

Would love to see a campy montage of Lestat taking Akasha to all the designer stores to pick out clothes but then ultimately raiding some private collections / museums for more elevated period-specific pieces.

Very curious to see if you guys have any thoughts or outfit inspo ideas for Akasha? We have seen her brought to the screen only as Aaliyah prior and I am so excited because I think Sheila is so very theatrical from what we have seen so far and I can think of so many wonderful looks that could further accentuate her astounding and intense performance! 🎭

Infinity Nikki as Anne Rice’s x AMC’s The Vampire Lestat

If you haven’t watched this show yet and you’re a fan of great acting, vampires, horror, musicals, or gothic romance, you really should!! 🎸🎤

These were the pieces I owned that were closest to his rockstar performance wardrobe in the show. Lestat mostly has his shirt off in concerts (obviously not possible with Nikki!)

Do you have any Nikki’s made from characters of the Interview With The Vampire show?? I’d love to see them below ⬇️

The Vampire Lestat cosplay by Nikki

I play this game called “Infinity Nikki”… it’s basically a dress-up gatcha and I’m literally so obsessed with TVL that I just had to use the closest in-game clothing, hair+makeup & jewelry to make our favorite Brat Prince and now I don’t think I can ever change my character’s outfit again.🎶🎸

Sam is a phenomenal actor. Literally awestruck to see him jump off Anne Rice’s novel pages onto our screens!
