Getting info on Grandfather in the 3rd Marines

Hey guys, feel free to take this down if this doesn’t fit the sub, just curious about a research company. I’ve contacted WW2research dot com to do some research on my grandfather who was a marine in the pacific during the Second World War. I had a call with one of their researchers today, and he told me they’d be able to get all the service records available for him, and that typically a 150-200 page record is expected. To do this, they’re charging about $280. Is this worth it in your opinion? Is there a way I can do this myself and get such an extensive record? Honestly I’d love to have it, and my Mom would be ecstatic, as he was her Dad. If there’s a better way to go about it, please feel free to criticize or school me on it. Thanks in advance!
